Pixar is a company almost defined by its exclusivity, as the typically insular Brain Trust dominates over most films that the studio produces. So it’s incredibly exciting when the studio pulls in some outside talent, as was the case with Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt; now Marti Noxon, one of the minds behind Buffy and Mad Men, is set to work on an upcoming Pixar feature!
Pixar’s senior development executive Mary Coleman broke the news at this year’s Austin Film Festival, Indiewire reports. It’s news that bodes well for a studio typically conservative about bringing in fresh talent, and Noxon’s background in both fantasy and drama makes her a logical Pixar collaborator. It’s yet to be announced what exactly she’s working on, but we’ll keep you posted.
Do you think Pixar should bring in more writers and directors from the outside?
