Shorts Round-Up: 'La Luna' Image + Stanton/Docter Collaboration!

News Pete Docter Round-Ups

With the Oscars only a week away, and Pixar’s hopes hanging on the studio’s Best Animated Short Film nomination, it’s only appropriate that we round up some… short news.

New La Luna Image: Just prior to the star-studded Hollywood event, Disney/Pixar has released a brand new still from the studio’s Academy Award-nominated short, La Luna. Director Enrico Casarosa’s story about a boy discovering the wonders of his family occupation may just take the gold on Oscar night. Stay tuned, but for now, click to view larger.

Stanton and Docter Talk New Short: With Stanton on the director’s chair at Disney (for this March’s John Carter) and Pete Docter hard at work on Pixar’s Mind project, one might not expect the following, recently announced collaboration. Speaking to Ain’t It Cool News Stanton stated, "As a matter of fact I’m developing a short film with Pete Docter. There’s an idea that he and I have had for years that we are finally getting around to doing which is kind of funny." The WALL-E and Finding Nemo director goes on to say that he’s still with Pixar although a Stanton animated feature is not in the near future.

Now that’s a lot to look forward to! Don’t forget to tune in to the Oscars telecast on Sunday, February 26.
