WAFCA Approves Up In the Capital!

Awards News

Like its local legislature, the Washington, D.C. Area Film Critics Association had some tough decisions to make this year.

Of course, these votes won’t affect national security or create new laws but the group’s opinions should be of great interest to Pixar fans! Earlier, the Association nominated Pixar’s 10th film for three awards including Best Film, Best Animated Film and Best Original Screenplay.

After the votes were counted, Pixar went home with one award for Up: 2009’s Best Animated Film prize! This is the studio’s 3rd consecutive win in this specific WAFCA category. As expected, Up in the Air (this year’s other respected "up") won Best Picture. The Association’s website only has noms posted right now and will be updated tomorrow but you can check out the rest of the winners here.

Congratulations to the Up team! I look forward to other film critics association’s consensus in the coming weeks.
