For my Metals class this semester we had to create a ring that represented a person/character of our choice. My latest obsession led me to choose Wall-E.
I based my design on Irish claddagh rings. Seeing as Wall-E’s goal is to hold Eve’s hand I thought it was a nice connection.
Wow, that is very, very, very, very (i can go on for a long time) good! It took me a while to see the hands were different, but I get it. It looks really, really cool. Very creative and well made as well.
Holy Eva! That ring is amazing! So that’s EVE and WALL•E’s hands, then? One of the hands reminds me of a spork, too. Great job. I’m sure there’s a market for other WALL•E-inspired jewellery, too, you know.
Aww, that’s so sweet! And what a great idea- it works really well, especially with the different metals! Nice work, Artsy Girl! We were discussing how cool it would be for there to be WALL-E jewelry on another thread, so this goes to show that it would really work well.
Thanks everyone! Man, I wish I could mass produce these and sell 'em here on the forum. Too bad sterling silver costs so much…
Maybe if I take another Metals class I’ll try a necklace or earrings. I’m sure you other creative people can think of an awesome design for such things.
@[b:24i6tmub]rachelcakes1985[/b:24i6tmub] Heh yeah Eve’s hand does look like a spork. Unfortunately the 3-D design from the movie doesn’t translate as well in real life.
That is lovely! I brought up on another thread how I felt fine jewelry inspired by WALL-E would be appealing, and your ring and the reaction here proves it’s possible and that people would want it. I would particularly like to see EVE and WALL-E necklace and bracelet charms; I think EVE would be particularly elegant, whether she’s from laser-cut gold or silver or even gemstones.
Sorry bit of a late reply, but yes I’m actually wearing it now. It’s just a teensy bit big since I didn’t hammer it perfectly, but it fits better than rings I’ve bought I love it to death.
@ docindigo76 - ooo an EVE necklace/charm would be great! I wish I had the money to buy gold >.> It’s super expensive.
That’s gorgeous! Make one for me too! lol, just kidding! That is really creative. I wish I took a metals class just so I could make something like that. Great job!
What an endeavor! I love the finished result – it fits well with the theme of the film, looks comfortable enough to wear, and is simply adorable in general. It would probably make a nice wedding ring for any couple who happened to be WALL-E fans.
