Woody’s Round-Up – New Merch, And Jessie Joins The Fun At Pixar Pier

Toy Story 4

Posted by Joanna • April 29, 2019

Does Toy Story 4 still seem too far away? Luckily, there have been some nice bits of Pixar-related news to help tide us over lately (apologies in advance for tempting you with lots of sweet merchandise).

New Merchandise

It’s not unusual for lots of merchandise to start hitting the shelves in the run-up to a film release. Toy Story products have been cropping up all over the place, but amidst all of this, some other merch has been quietly making the rounds online.

Toy Story 4 Goldfish have recently become available – same great taste, but now you can eat Woody’s and Buzz’s heads. Great! Loungefly have also come out with a line of new purses and bags featuring an adorable Toy Story print.

It’s also lovely to see a past Pixar short getting some love – Funko Pop have released a new figurine for “Presto”. Alec Azam, the white rabbit and star of the short, looks pretty good with a classic Funko makeover.

You can also now get all three soundtracks for the Pixar SparkShorts “Purl”, “Smash and Grab” and “Kitbull”, which is amazing considering some of the theatrically released shorts from years ago haven’t had soundtrack releases.

Jessie’s Critter Carousel

The brand new ride at Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure Park is now open! Fittingly, this ride is inspired by Jessie’s gang of animal pals in “Woody’s Round-up” in Toy Story 2.  It’s a lovely twist on a classic carousel – you can choose to ride on anything from a tortoise to a raccoon.

“Toy Story Drop” – Mobile Game Releasing Later This Spring

“Toy Story Drop” is a mobile game that should be available to download onto smartphones soon. It looks like there will be a lot of familiar characters and locations as you make your way through this classic matching puzzle game. You can watch a sneak peek of the game below:

Old Friends And New Faces – New Toy Story 4 TV Spot And Poster

Poster, Toy Story 4

Posted by Joanna • April 18, 2019

A new Toy Story 4 TV spot has given us a glimpse of some brand new footage, all centred around Bo Peep, the Pixar heroine we’re looking forward to reacquainting ourselves with this summer. Take a look at the TV spot below:

From what we’ve seen of Toy Story 4 already, it’s clear that the movie is going to look beautiful. This new TV spot has totally solidified this prediction – the animation and camera movements are so exciting and believable, and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such an impressively animated 3D cat. The lighting is stunning.

We also get to see the toys reacting to the complex mystery that is toy death as the characters witness a cuddly toy with its head ripped off.

“Is that how we look…on the inside?”

“There’s so much…f-f-f-f-fluff!”

The new poster features the golden trio – Woody, Buzz, and Bo (plus Officer Giggle McDimples, of course) – with the atmospheric blurred carnival lights in the background. Such attention to detail!

Disney, Toy Story 4

Posted by Simoa • April 11, 2019

Some more exciting Disney+ news, the company’s new streaming service. After we got more details yesterday on Monsters at Work, there’s some new Pixar updates. Check them out below:

Ahead of Toy Story 4‘s release (posts on the press day last week will be coming soon!), the shorts centering on Forky and Bo Peep, stars of the fourth film, will definitely be ones not to miss. It’s a brilliant idea. I personally, would still love short films from The Incredibles universe, but maybe those are still possible!

There’s been a lot of discussion surrounding the unlimited options with streaming these days, much of it wary and negative. Disney now joining Netflix, the newly launched Criterion channel and Apple+, along with HBO Go, Hulu et al, means people are going to pay more for content that’s no longer as inaccessible. We hope it’s a success.

Stay tuned for more news on Disney+.

Monsters, Inc. Animated Series ‘Monsters At Work’ – Familiar Voice Cast Revealed

Disney, John Ratzenberger, Monsters At Work, Monsters, Inc.

Posted by Joanna • April 9, 2019

We’ve known that a new Monsters, Inc. animated series has been in the works for a good while now, but today an official title and voice cast were revealed. The series, which is being developed for Disney’s upcoming video subscription service Disney+, will be called ‘Monsters At Work’, and will arrive in 2020.

‘Monsters At Work’ will take place just six months after the events of Monsters, IncMike and Sulley will have fully settled into their new roles as Jokesters on the Laugh Floor, and who knows how serious Mike and Celia’s relationship will have gotten?

The voice cast reveal is a wonderful surprise: fans of the movie will notice that a lot of the names are very familiar… Billy Crystal is returning as Mike Wazowski, John Goodman is reprising his role as Sulley, Mike’s partner Celia will still be voiced by original voice actor Jennifer Tilly, and old favourites John Ratzenberger and Bob Peterson will lend their voices to the Yeti and Roz respectively. In fact, Bob Peterson won’t only be voicing Roz – he’ll be voicing Roze too, Roz’s twin sister. (!!!)

‘Monsters At Work’ will introduce other new characters in addition to Roze. Get ready for a long list of great names and a star-studded cast:

Tylor Tuskmon, a young mechanic who dreams of working alongside Mike and Sulley on the Laugh Floor, will be voiced by Ben Feldman, and he’ll be joined by a whole host of other characters: Bernard (also voiced by John Ratzenberger), Val Little (voiced by Kelly Marie Tran), Fritz (voiced by Henry Winkler), Duncan (voiced by Lucas Neff), Cutter (voiced by Alanna Ubach), Smitty and Needleman (both voiced by Stephen Stanton) and Millie Tuskmon (voiced by Aisha Tyler).

A quick aside – Alanna Ubach has voiced a Pixar character before: Mama Imelda in Coco!

A lot of the newly revealed voice actors have been tweeting about their excitement, so it’s easy to tell ‘Monsters At Work’ has had a lot of heart put into it. We’ll be looking forward to teasers and sneak peeks of the look of the series, which will hopefully be coming our way in the next few months.
