Box Office Buzz: Lotso Competition, Staying Strong!

After a month in release, Toy Story 3 successfully maintains its competitive edge at the box office!

Pixar’s 11th landed the #5 spot with an estimate of $11 million dollars. Now that the film has crossed most of its imaginable benchmarks, we can go straight to its current total:

$362,709,000

This Weekend: Phenomenal new release, Inception, was able to capture the top spot this weekend as Despicable Me dropped almost 50% from its debut. In the meantime, Sorcerer’s Apprentice (new release) struggled to surpass Eclipse.

As for Toy Story 3 — Buzz and Woody had virtually identical Friday and Sunday estimates, with $3.4 million dollars each day. Saturday took the cake, as usual, with an estimated $4.6 million.

International: Last week, Toy Story 3 managed to rake in $36.2 million at the foreign box office. Japan’s opening weekend contributed $11 million, making it the biggest US ‘toon release in the country. The film can now claim $221.9 million in international gross and $584 million worldwide.
