New 'Monsters University' Stills + Interviews!

Monsters University News

USA Today dished out quite a bit of Monsters University news today; two interviews with the cast and crew as well as three never-before-seen stills debuted on their website.

Firstly, Billy Crystal and John Goodman shared a few words about their experience working on Monsters University. Interestingly, the two actors recorded all of their voice work in the same room – a rare choice in the world of animation, but one that will undoubtedly add authenticity to their performances. Check out the full interview here.

USA Today also spoke with director Dan Scanlon and producer Kori Rae, delving into the inspiration behind the prequel and its major themes. Scanlon stated:

"If there’s a message, I think it’s that sometimes you have to discover who you really are, instead of what you’re expected to be. It might be a slightly heavier theme than the first movie, but I think kids are more aware than we sometimes give them credit for."

Interestingly, Rae also divulged that Pixar is working heavily to ramp up their output to two films every three years. Inside Out and Finding Dory are both set to release in 2015, so hopefully the studio will finally accomplish this sought-after goal.

Be sure to read both articles in full, as there’s plenty of insightful discussion to be found in both. Monsters University won’t be out until June 21, but look out for a brand new trailer this Thursday!
