Of all the composers behind Pixar’s musical scores, Thomas Newman may be one of the most beloved; his work on Finding Nemo and WALL-E brought unparalleled emotional depth to those films. So it’s exciting to hear that he will once again be collaborating with the studio for The Good Dinosaur!
At a Le Moyne and Syracuse University event, Newman revealed that The Good Dinosaur‘s score will be his next project. He also spoke about the challenge of writing music for animation: “[Writing for] animation is a lot different. In live-action, you can settle on a mood or tone that lasts for a long time. In animation, the tone is shifting every two or three seconds. There’s a lot more writing, a lot more notes. It can be scary.”
His music will undoubtedly bring plenty of life to Bob Peterson’s directorial debut, which is set to release on May 30, 2014. Read the synopsis below:
