Updated plot synopsis for The Good Dinosaur

News The Good Dinosaur

The Good Dinosaur has undergone major reconstruction since it was first officially announced in 2011. After director Bob Peterson was replaced by Pete Sohn, the release date was pushed back from May 2014 to November 25good dino 3 of this year. Now a new plot synopsis for the film has emerged, which originally appeared on StitchKingdom:

“The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.

In Peterson’s original concept, the dinosaurs were farmers, but since his removal that element of the story has been scrapped. The human that Arlo befriends remains an integral part of the story, as does the premise of the dinosaurs surviving extinction. What’s interesting is the role that nature plays in this film. While the film explores a world where the asteroid never wipes out the dinosaurs, nature is still the primary antagonist. “Harsh and mysterious landscape” makes that clear.
What isn’t clear is when a teaser for The Good Dinosaur will drop, but we do know that in the upcoming months there will be plenty more news and art leading up to its November release.
