Time for another box office update. I guess time will tell but my prediction that Ratatouille<\/span> will perform steadily at the box office seems to true for the most part. Ratatouille<\/span> is no longer at the top of the box office, taken over by that other<\/i> big robot, Transformers<\/i>. Twas to be expected. So these are the numbers…<\/p>\n

So since the last box office update<\/a> three days ago, domestically, Ratatouille<\/i> has grossed $36,884,568<\/span> with an average of $12,294,856<\/b> per day. Ratatouille<\/i> has been out 10 days so far and I think it is doing very well considering its one of the few original films this year.<\/p>\n

Here are some other numbers for you. I think the folks at the house of mouse will be quite content with Ratatouille’s<\/i> performance considering it’s only been in release 10 days and it has outgrossed Meet The Robinson’s<\/i> domestic gross of $96,645,714<\/span>. Currently I can see Ratatouille<\/i> making it into or very near the top 10 films domestic grossing’s wise this year. And do remember that the film has yet to open in many, many locations around the globe. I do think this film might be a bit of a hit in France just like Finding Nemo<\/i> was in Australia.<\/p>\n

And just to give you an idea on how special Ratatouille<\/i> is to Box Office Mojo users, it is currently ranked<\/a> as the 4th highest rated film on the site, after 1. LOTR<\/span>: Return of the King, 2. Star Wars<\/i> and 3. SW: The Empire Strikes Back<\/i>. The Incredibles<\/i> sits at 11th position. Here is another bit of perspective, The Shawshank Redemption<\/i> only grossed $28,341,469<\/b> domestically during it’s release in ’94, and it is a film that Andrew Stanton describes as “perfect” and it sits at 8th position. Of course I should mention that Ratatouille<\/i> only has 586 votes compared to the 4,5 and 6 thousand votes on other films, so time will only tell where it sits in the ladder.<\/p>\n

So please, please, please, do not fret about the box office numbers for Ratatouille<\/span>. Leave that to the shareholders and the execs, that is if they are worrying at all. Box office performance has nothing to do with the greatness of a film, and from I keep hearing about Ratatouille<\/span>, it’s near perfection. Can’t wait to see it!
