Today at Cannes (coverage here<\/a>), Pete Docter confirmed that Up, not unlike Monsters, Inc. with the Nemo in-joke, will have a new character from Toy Story 3 hidden in the movie.<\/p>\n

The director of Up was quoted as saying, “We’re showing a character from ‘Toy Story 3’ that nobody knows about." Nobody knows about it? Well, not for long since MTV<\/span> Movies Blog<\/a> looked into this and asked Jonas Rivera for his response. The producer of Up had this to say: <\/p>\n

“I won’t tell you who it is, but I’ll tell you where it is… There’s a shot where a little girl is in her room and the house goes by… she’s playing with her little plane. She gets up, and she looks [out the window] – under her bed is one of the new stars of ‘Toy Story 3’.” <\/p>\n

You may remember that scene from the trailer where the little girl’s room is illuminated with colors, almost like a stained glass windows, while the balloons pulling Carl’s house go up. That part of the trailer is full of in-jokes like the iconic ball in Luxo Jr., the plane from Toy Story and a drawing of Kevin and Dug on the wall. But what we didn’t know is that it also features a cameo for a new character, much like the Mr. Incredible comic in Finding Nemo or Dug in Ratatouille.<\/p>\n

Notice that in the corner of the screen, next to her bed there’s a pink teddy bear. We were suspicious<\/a> of this bear for a while and that seems to be the new character Docter and Rivera were talking about. No name or story details were given but you can sure bet we’ll run it here once it’s available!<\/p>\n
