<\/a>We’ve been posting some great Up related links (like a creative new interview with Pete Docter<\/a> and a story about the K-9’s in Up<\/a>) over at the Weekday Box Office post<\/a> from earlier, but I thought this next topic was way too interesting to leave without a full post.<\/p>\n

As is commonly known, Pixar stories get molded over many years of development. In Up’s case it’s been 5 years of morphing into what it is today! Of course, tons of developmental ideas would have to be dropped along the way. Particularly interesting is the subplot having to do with Muntz’s obsession with a certain character’s eggs…<\/p>\n

Late last month<\/a>, Lou Romano posted some Up concept art on his blog<\/a> including a piece featuring an extremely elderly looking character holding an egg, seen above. It was of course and earlier incarnation of Muntz which, in this version of Up, not only wanted to capture Kevin but also her eggs which happen to be like a fountain of youth! As you can probably guess, this is what kept Muntz young enough to keep trekking for Kevin.<\/p>\n

MTV<\/span>’s Movies Blog<\/a> spoke to director Pete Docter about this deleted subplot: "We had the bird give birth to this egg, and Carl then felt like he needed to take [care of] this baby… But it kind of got more bizarre… it was an element that we dropped out from the story.” Read the whole interview here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
