Against the box office juggernaut <em>The Dark Knight Rises<\/em>, <em>Brave<\/em> dropped to #5 over the weekend, taking in <strong>$6,024,987<\/strong><em> <\/em>(a 46% drop from last weekend). Likely to make sub-$1 million daily during the coming weekdays, the movie&#8217;s final push into the record books relies heavily on casual moviegoers and the dollar theater.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, <em>Brave<\/em>&#8216;s domestic total stands at <strong>$208,774,173<\/strong>, now beating out <em>Toy Story<\/em> and <em>Ratatouille<\/em> as well as <em>Cars 2<\/em> and <em>A Bug&#8217;s Life<\/em>. The slow burn of Pixar&#8217;s movies in theaters will help move <em>Brave<\/em> towards a level of success likely around or above that of <em><em>Cars<\/em>. <\/em>The film is also beginning to expand internationally, taking in $70.5 million overseas to date.<em><\/p>\n<p><\/em>Next week, the film will beat <em>The Lorax <\/em>to become the #1 animated film of the year domestically so far.
