Last December, Polygon provided an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/pixarplanet.com\/blog\/disney-teases-disney-infinity-disneypixar-crossover-game\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">extensive early look<\/a> at <em>Disney Infinity<\/em>, set to bring together multiple Disney and Pixar franchises in a creative sandbox-style game. Finally, Disney has provided the first official details on this ambitious multi-franchise, multi-platform game!<\/p>\n<p>Turns out the early reports were accurate; <em>Disney Infinity<\/em>, developed by Avalanche Studios, is a multiplayer &quot;toybox&quot; game coming to Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U, Wii, 3DS, and mobile platforms. Disney has taken inspiration from the <em>Skylanders<\/em> franchise by using a <span class=\"caps\">USB<\/span> &quot;Infinity Base&quot; to scan real-life figurines into the game world. The trailer below should help make things clearer:<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"429\" height=\"241\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oC_xhaIlgWQ?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pixarplanet.com\/blog\/images\/1653.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"100\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/pixarplanet.com\/blog\/images\/1653.jpg\" \/><\/a>Along with character figurines, Disney will also sell game worlds in the form of &quot;playsets.&quot; By far the most fascinating element of <em>Infinity, <\/em>though, is the Toybox mode. Taking pages from <em>Minecraft<\/em> and <em>LittleBigPlanet, <\/em>the game features a robust level editor that even includes some programming features, allowing players to create new game modes. Much like <em><span class=\"caps\">LBP<\/span><\/em>, levels and modes can even be shared online and downloaded by others. <\/p>\n<p>Provided that Avalanche Studios can make good on these exciting promises (and I have faith that they will), <em>Disney Infinity<\/em> could be a much-needed hit for Disney Interactive.
