Though eleven year old Riley (voiced by Kaitlyn Dias) is the primary setting for the characters\/emotions in her mind, this new trailer also gave us a glimpse into the minds of her parents.<br \/>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_MC3XuMvsDI\" width=\"429\" height=\"241\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nThe family of three are all sitting down for dinner when mom (Diane Lane) asks Riley how her first day of school was. She responds less than enthusiastically, which sets off signals in her mother\u2019s brain. We see the emotions that inhabit Riley\u2019s brain in her mother\u2019s as well, although they all resemble mom with brown hair and glasses.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pixarplanet.com\/blog\/images\/1813.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"123\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nDad (Kyle MacLachlan) receives the signal, and in his mind\u2019s headquarters are mustachioed emotions (not unlike his own) who are cheering on a game. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pixarplanet.com\/blog\/images\/1812.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"110\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/>(Hockey in the US version, and soccer in the UK one).<br \/>\nThere are some important cues to pick up on. Mom\u2019s emotions are all female while dad\u2019s are male. The emotions in Riley\u2019s mind are both. And from what we see, it seems that mom\u2019s primary emotion is Sadness while dad\u2019s is Anger. As plot details began to surface a couple of months back, we learned that Joy (Amy Poehler) is Riley\u2019s, but she and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) are booted out of headquarters. The scene in this trailer shows what Riley\u2019s mind headquarters look like without those two. Instead she only has Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader), and Anger (Lewis Black) to rely on.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pixarplanet.com\/blog\/images\/1814.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"249\" height=\"132\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/>As evidenced by this trailer, having Riley navigate with just those three is going to be extremely hilarious. It\u2019s also worth noting that the emotions in her parents\u2019 minds are just as interesting.<br \/>\nDirector Pete Docter was also on hand for a Twitter q&amp;a about the film. He answered most questions through the film\u2019s official account, @PixarInsideOut. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PixarInsideOut\/status\/542754154104377344\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The film is a metaphor for growing up<\/a>, and it is indeed striking that Riley can no longer get in touch with Joy, her defining emotion, as she makes the journey. At least temporarily. Riley\u2019s transition from joy filled to withdrawn was actually inspired by Docter\u2019s daughter, so it\u2019s clear this film is definitely a personal project.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s no wonder that a film about the mind would prove to be so clever.
