Daniel Gerson, screenwriter on Pixar films <em>Monsters, Inc<\/em>., <em>Monsters University<\/em>, and the latest <em>Inside Out<\/em> died at his home this past Saturday. Gerson was 49, and <a href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2016\/film\/news\/daniel-gerson-monsters-inc-big-hero-6-dead-1201699877\/?platform=hootsuite\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Variety<\/a> reports, lost a battle with brain cancer. Gerson also received writing credit on Disney&#8217;s <em>Big Hero 6 <\/em>and voiced the desk sergeant in that film. Fans of Pixar may also note with delight and sadness that he lent his voice to the hilarious pair Needleman and Smitty in <em>Monsters, Inc<\/em>.<br \/>\nGerson graduated from Cornell University with an English degree and worked on NBC&#8217;s &#8220;Something So Right&#8221; as a staff writer following graduation. He&#8217;s survived by his wife and parents as well as two children.<br \/>\nNo doubt Gerson&#8217;s death is\u00a0keenly felt at Pixar and Disney.\u00a0He played an integral role in bringing some of the greatest animated films to life.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Dan Gerson and myself during Monsters Inc.
