{"id":6334,"date":"2018-07-02T17:37:01","date_gmt":"2018-07-02T21:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pixarplanet.com\/blog\/?p=6334"},"modified":"2018-07-02T17:37:01","modified_gmt":"2018-07-02T21:37:01","slug":"pixar-pier-highlights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pixarplanet.com\/blog\/pixar-pier-highlights\/","title":{"rendered":"Pixar Pier Highlights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new entirely Pixar-themed area of Disney California Adventure Park &#8211; Pixar Pier &#8211; enthusiastically opened its gates on June 23rd, and it&#8217;s got more than enough to offer to all the fellow Pixar fans out there.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6335 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com\/upcomingpixar\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1-e1530564138593.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1241\" height=\"700\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>First up &#8211; the attractions!<\/h2>\n<p>There are currently 3 attractions at Pixar Pier &#8211; The <em>Incredicoaster<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Toy Story Midway Mania<\/em>,\u00a0and the\u00a0<em>Pixar Pal-A-Round<\/em> &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0with more due to be added in 2019 (<em>Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Jessie&#8217;s Critter Carousel<\/em>).\u00a0<em>Toy Story Midway Mania\u00a0<\/em>makes you feel like you&#8217;ve shrunk down to the size of Woody and Buzz while you compete in a variety of target shooting games, while the\u00a0<em>Pixar Pal-A-Round\u00a0<\/em>Ferris Wheel\u00a0lets you sit back, relax, and take in your surroundings and the wonderful views. If you&#8217;re looking for more of a thrill, there are swinging gondolas too!<br \/>\nThe\u00a0<em>Incredicoaster\u00a0<\/em>is an\u00a0<em>Incredibles 2\u00a0<\/em>themed rollercoaster, complete with Michael Giacchino&#8217;s iconic soundtrack. And this isn&#8217;t just the movie soundtrack &#8211;\u00a0Giacchino arranged music <strong>specifically<\/strong> for the\u00a0<em>Incredicoaster,<\/em>\u00a0to play alongside a high-speed race to catch Jack-Jack. If you&#8217;re looking for an immersive experience, then look no further than this super-powered ride.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;People when they&#8217;re riding it&#8230;they&#8217;re gonna have an emotional connection right off the bat. They&#8217;re gonna feel like they&#8217;re really in the movie. And I think that they&#8217;re gonna walk away from this, humming the music and saying &#8216;we have to go and do that again&#8217;.&#8221; &#8211; Michael Giacchino<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Watch Disneyland&#8217;s feature on the orchestration below:<br \/>\n<iframe title=\"Orchestrating the Score for the Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure Park\" width=\"862\" height=\"485\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fOx-iK4KI8Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>What else?<\/h2>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t anywhere near the extent of what Pixar Pier has to offer &#8211; there are all sorts of snacks taking inspiration from our favourite Pixar movies (a &#8216;Jack-Jack Cookie Num Num&#8217;, anyone?), including the <em>Poultry Palace<\/em>, which you may recognise from the\u00a0<em>Toy Story\u00a0<\/em>toon\u00a0<em>Small Fry.\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_6338\" style=\"width: 1930px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6338\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6338\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com\/upcomingpixar\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6338\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Some Nutrients &#8211; Many Preservatives&#8221;<\/p><\/div><br \/>\nThere are also plenty of games (with prizes!) to try out &#8211; the\u00a0<em>La Luna\u00a0<\/em>themed one being my personal favourite. The <em>WALL-E<\/em> <em>Space Race\u00a0<\/em>comes in as a close second though.<br \/>\nI love how the team who came up with concepts\/designed\/<em>built\u00a0<\/em>Pixar Pier were clearly driven by creativity and a sense of fun. I think that&#8217;s why I feel the most excited about the<strong><em> Lamplight Lounge\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(and that&#8217;s why I saved it until last). The\u00a0<em>Lamplight Lounge\u00a0<\/em>is a &#8216;restaurant celebrating creativity&#8217;; its walls and ceilings are adorned with posters, concept art, promotional art and memorabilia from Pixar movies spanning all the way back to\u00a0<em>Toy Story<\/em>.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6343\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com\/upcomingpixar\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"613\" height=\"409\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6344\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com\/upcomingpixar\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"613\" height=\"414\" \/><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nHave you been lucky enough to visit the Pixar Pier yet?
