\nDr Ed, (Dr. Ed Catmull), from Pixar, has been selected to receive the 2006 IEEE<\/span> John von Neumann Medal for his contributions to special effects in live-action and animated motion pictures.<\/p>\n

In 1974, while studying physics and computer science at the U (University of Utah), his pioneering animation of a human hand was incorporated into the first movie to use 3-D computer graphics. His research led to four computer-graphics discoveries: Z-buffering, texture mapping, subdivision surface and rendering of bicubic patches.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n‘Pixar: 20 Years of Animation’<\/i> will be making it’s way to the Mori Arts Center in Tokyo’s Roppongi Hills.<\/p>\n

“Pixar: 20 Years of Animation” toured New York’s Museum of Modern Art and the Science Museum London, and was highly acclaimed. The exhibition’s arrival in Japan will be held in conjunction with the Japanese premiere of Pixar’s latest film “Cars.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
