All of the Green Army Men

I’d imagine like the cheap bags of soliders/cowboys/indians you get a random selection of them…

They often switch that up between a grenade, binoculars, and just nothing. Sarge is never seen in his toy mode in the movies, but it was shown in the first picture I posted. In the Toy Story Collection, he’s holding nothing.

This has a good picture of him. Makes me think there’s different variations of it.

That reviewer has the inaccurate version. Compare them to the pictures of the accurate ones earlier in the thread, you’ll see. Edit: and Sarge is seen in toy mode, he’s to the right of the Minesweeper troop in the pic with the door.

Do you know anything more about this inaccurate version? Is it older?

Yep. It was released early in the run of the TSC; Thinkway couldn’t get the digital data from Pixar in time thus they hand-sculpted new ones so they’d have something to put out in the interim. The inaccurate versions do not come with a certificate, and only have the ‘light blue with clouds’ collection label as opposed to the ‘white with blue border’ label indicitive of the second run which are all accurate (though it should be noted that the accurate versions with certificate can be in a bucket with the older blue label).

Thanks for the info, I guess it makes sense from the guy’s review. And Andy either has four paratroopers, or there was an error, because the guys in Toy Story 3 don’t have their weapons.

Also, since the Green Army Men from the latest bucket came from Pixar’s digittal data, does that mean they all were from the movie, just some not seen?

And finally, I have a huge Mr. Potato Head bucket that looks to be the same size as the Bucket o’ Soldiers in the movie.

You’re welcome. As for the paratroopers, it’s probably just for dramatic effect- weapons would interfere with holding Sarge and waving goodbye. For the soldiers from the collection bucket, I have a theory- remember how I said that Thinkway had to wait to get the digital data from Pixar? It was determined in the TSC thread that the data Thinkway was using came from TS3. I think the delay came from the fact that Pixar had to recreate the old soldier poses using the three soldiers they had already created for the new film. This is further supported by the fact that the soldiers in your first picture match the TSC exactly, while they differ slightly from the soldiers in the pic with the door (compare closely, for instance, the minesweeper and ‘gun above head’ troopers with their counterparts in the TS1 screenshot below it).

That more than likely is the case. Still, just like Woody, they’ve added upgrades and such to the characters’ appearances. By Toy Story 3, they’re more stylalized and fluid. Though I have to admit, I didn’t notice until I was looking for it.
Finally, there’s one guy who isn’t in the bucket, yet one guy in the bucket who I didn’t see in the movie (the guy with his gun pointed up). The search is on.

has anyone found a right bucket ?

and s wats the break down on the 200 solders ? how many of each?

That could be possible I guess, about them not having the data because they needed to recreate them, but its worth noting they actually do still have the original model data, they re rendered the movies after all in 3d. And they said that they had to redo Heimlich to create new animation for a Disney world attraction recently (which I assume was very similar to the systems used for Toy Story, being so close to each other), but they still had the “shell” which is of course the model itself. So I take it they did in fact have the army men data ready, as long as they didn’t need to animate them, which in this case they didn’t, static poses are all that’s needed for 3d printing.

Also, quick question; when did we determine they used the TS3 model data again? I don’t remember us figuring that out, but maybe you guys can jog my memory. not that I doubt it, I just didn’t think we knew for sure.

That’s just a guess on why these army men bare more of a resemblance to how they look in Toy Story 3 (lighter, more defined).

And I do have a Mr. Potato Head Bucket that looks like the same sized bucket in the movie. I’ll try to get a picture.

Excuse the messy room. And Woody is there for size reference.

Also, I think I know where the guy shooting up fits in (the one who was never spotted in the movie). Since he has the same gun as the paratroopers, he was probably originally the second paratrooper, and the other paratrooper, who was seen in the movie, but without a parachute, was supposed to be a normal troop.
