Well, they did it for Pixar when Finding Nemo and
The Incredibles won back-to-back. But then again, they probably just couldn’t
resist giving the award to The Incredibles

There is something about Cars that, generally, and I mean, very very generally,
people don’t seem to like. Because of it, people who are not Pixar fans, but are aware of Pixar and what they
have done, say things along the lines of ‘Pixar are getting worse lately’, despite the fact that Cars was
actually a very good film. I guess sometimes, the critics love it, and sometimes, the critics hate it, and you
can’t really control what will happen when a film is released. Cars isn’t doing very well, but hopefully Pixar
can make it up with Ratatouille, and, at the end of the day, Cars WAS a good film, so Pixar shouldn’t be ashamed
of anything.
Dash - Wow – what a list. Where did you find all of that?
You know, I’m
not that surprised that Cars didn’t make a par on this hole – it was (and is) a
fantastic film of course; no doubt about it. However, I do have to admit that it is not my favorite Pixar film to
date – I expected it to be not as good as Finding Nemo, but up there with
Monsters Inc. concerning success and the like.
I admit: Pixar did a
wonderful job on Cars. The characters are memorable, the story is engaging, and the
special effects are top-notch. The only flaw I can see involves something that one of the posters here on these
boards mentioned a while back, and that is that it is rather hard to relate to those inanimate objects with four
wheels. However, we can’t quite relate to toys and monsters either, although…it seemed to work out just fine
anyway. Hmm…
Well…I dunno. In any case, let us hope that Cars wins
“Best Animated Feature” next year. Even better, let’s hope that Happy
Feet and Cars both tie for the win.
Titan A.E./Planet Ice was nominated that year? You’ve
gotta be kidding me…I mean, the effects were great, but the over-all story? Heh.
