Currently reading the last book of the Time Quartet (aka A Wrinkle in Time), “Many Waters”.
Has anyone ever read The Walking Dead? Telltale is making a video game about it, and I just realized that libraries exist, so I’m thinking about checking it out.
I know what you meant, but that was gloriously funny, Bryko.
Reading Othello right now. So far, I’m lovin’it.
bud-a-ba-ba-ba
^ I’m reading Othello for school. “Love” isn’t exactly the word I’d use to describe it so far Being forced to read a book sucks a lot of the enjoyment out of it
Anyways…if you can’t tell from my signature, I started to read The Walking Dead, and WOW. If you’re not reading this, you’re missing out. Just finished issue 48…totally unpredictable, shocking, and amazing character development. It kind of reminds me of a Brad Bird story if there weren’t any violence/language limitations. “Big” Hollywood premise (giant robots, superheroes), but takes a greater focus on the character relationships and conflicts. It’s really engaging and the connections with the characters make their conflicts and deaths even more painful to witness. Definitely check it out if you can.
Well, I tend to prefer being forced to read books. I lack the self-motivation and cash to read them otherwise. And I still like it. I think it’s my favorite Shakespeare play.
We didn’t read Othello in my high school. (At your grade level I think we read Midsummer’s Night Dream). I want to read it though.
My favorite Shakespeare play is Hamlet. My least favorite is MacBeth.
I’m enjoying my reading of Gang Leader for A Day.
EJE: cool! I’ve only read a few, but thus far my least favorite is Romeo and Juliet. I know I’ll get pelted for that.
I’m doing my best to contain myself. But how can you hate romeo and Juliet? It’s a great romantic story.
My least favorite too. We had to agree on something
The keyword is romantic. I don’t like romance. Especially tragic and overdone romance. I love the play, but it’s my least thus far. Glenn adores it, though. I just prefer Othello, Hamlet, etc. BTW, R+J the movie stinks. Really bad. Or at least the 1997 version, I mean.
SoA: Cool! High-five!
We’re not going to agree on this. But I have studied it emensely. I have to. It goes with my major in college.
Oh, I’m not trying to gain agreement. A consensus on anything is not possible. I was just explaining why it’s not my favorite is all. Sorry if it seemed offensive.
It’s just that I’ve been studying with people who don’t appreciate great theatre peices like Shakespeare, and I’m constantly debating everytime. It gets annoying.
I love Shakespeare. Romeo/Juliet is just my least favorite of his work so far. I think he was definitely great at what he did. The fact that people still read it is a testament to that. He’s definitely my favorite writer from the Romantic(?) Era.
Right now, I’m reading The Red Coat, but John Patrick Shanley
Yeah, we didn’t say that we hate R&J, just that it was our less favorite.
I understand. it’s kind hard to differentiate the difference between least favorite and hate. Cause sometimes, saying something is your least favorite is sometimes a nice way of saying you hate it.
I agree with this. I don’t hate any of Shakespeare’s works. I mean, the man was a genius, and invented much of the English we speak today. Romeo and Juliet is just my least preferred of his works.
Well its the one book/play that almost every adaptation (to my knowledge) has at least kept the elements. One thing I cant stand is when people screw over a decent literary work in a movie !!! And the 60’s movie isnt that bad. Just not for kids.
