Are you a girl? Oh great, that’s the second person here I got gender-confused about for the last fortnight! :unamused: I would like mine to be a serpent, I just think they’re really cool. And the snake is my Chinese zodiac sign!

I think they have the original ending as a deleted scene on the DVD… if I’m not mistaken. Shame it was not approved for the theatrical release. And I really do hope they’d consider continuing the series down the road, though I think a reboot would be more likely.

Not sure… suppose it’s like any other franchise, the probability of a sequel is dependent on the success of the predecessor. But I have a feeling they’re going to tie Ga’Hoole up cohesively while leaving it open for more adventures like they did for Percy Jackson… at least, I hope.

8D Yeah, I’m a girl…but don’t worry, apparently everyone thought I was a guy. It’s the avatar, isn’t it XD

Hmm, a serpent would be cool. I do like snakes, so that would be a possibility. My Chinese zodiac sign is the rooster, however. Roosters don’t exactly exude elegance and class

I don’t have the DVD, so even if the ending is there, I wouldn’t be able to watch it…maybe I’ll look on youtube, cause I was really psyched just for that one scene. [spoil]The raw emotion of Lyra and Roger fighting against her father, and then the portal opening up in the sky…it would have been really cool if done correctly.[/spoil]

Well since the series is done, maybe I’ll check at my local library. If they’re really that short, it isn’t worth me buying them all. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish the first three before I see the movie, which I definitely will thanks to your epic trailer

Anyone here read manga? The ones I’ve read so far are Ouran High School Host Club, Death Note, Elfen Lied, and Monster :shake: Monster is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Logan Lerman!

The young Jack Sparrow series.

This is professional fanfiction writing. But the smart mystical plots and complexity and the perfect portrayal of Jack Sparrow does make it worth the read. It’s has the right wits, dynamics, desires, of Jack Sparrow.

Haha, thanks! I think I listened to that fan trailer while working on it so many times that when I read the books, I get cursed with the music playing in my head as an ‘earworm’! :stuck_out_tongue:

Very interesting. I thought the cover arts look kinda dodgy, but since you say it’s good, I think I’ll give this a go. Jack was my favourite character (and I’m not sure I’m not the only one to say this) from the POTC series, so it’d be interesting to read on his origins (and since this is endorsed by Disney unlike fanfiction, it’s canonical).

I’ve been re-reading Fire Bringer. Basically, it’s like Watership Down, only with deer. Red deer, to be precise.

It’s really well-written and this is the second time for me to read it the whole way through…

I’m going to read the whole Lord of the Rings series again. Right now I’m on The Hobbit.

Right now I’m reading Star Wars: Darksaber. I’m on chapter 45, page 294. It’s a very good book.

I just completed reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe for school. I really liked it. I’ll be going to the next in the series pretty soon.

Right now I’m reading Multiple Blessings by Kate Gosselin.

Yay, I loved Watership Down! One of my favorite books of all time. I try to get other people to read it, but as soon as they hear about it, they’re like " :open_mouth: Sooooo…it’s about bunnies, huh? No thanks."

I’m almost halfway through Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. I think it’s the best novel she’s written. I haven’t read Northanger Abbey yet though, so I can’t say that for sure as of now :stuck_out_tongue: I prefer Austen over the Brontë sisters. I read Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, and while I enjoyed them both (Wuthering Heights is actually one of my favorite books ever), they’re a little too depressing. Austen’s novels are more engaging, with characters that are easier to relate to.

Ohhh, you’re gonna love the other books, they’re so awesome! I’ve read them about five times! Have you seen the movies too?

I loved the Narnia books! Although The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the best one, I also liked Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Magician’s Nephew, and The Last Battle. Prince Caspian and The Horse and His Boy were good, and I don’t like The Silver Chair, but that’s just my opinion. However, although I liked The Last Battle, I thought the ending was awful.

I just finished The Lovely Bones. It read it in a single sitting, and to put it shortly…pure poetry.

EDIT- Please don’t double post within 12 hours, thanks! And thanks to you Snipe for also letting Chuckles know. =)

Hey, Chuckles, you shouldn’t double-post… you can edit your original post if you forgot to say something, but you shouldn’t double-post unless it’s been at least 12 hours since your original post. Just thought I’d fill you in on that.

Has anyone read ‘Raven Quest’ by Sharon Stewart? Somebody on Wall-E Forums raised this on the ‘Legend of the Guardians’ thread as another series ripe for film adaptation.

I’ve just finished the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. it’s certainly written for young teenagers in mind but it’s still entertaining and enjoyable. I hear it’s had accusations of being a Harry Potter rip-off, and while I do see similarities (and Percy Jackson and Annabeth looks like the Harmony ship of Harry Potter in my opinion which made me raise an eyebrow a bit at points, and no I don’t ship them), overall it was enjoyable however. There were some problems and add ons I didn’t like but in the end this series was good and the last book was one of the better ones, especially the ending and how Luke’s story was played out.

[spoil]Thalia and Rachel [/spoil]I think are my favourite characters though, and overall I think it kind of did do right what Harry Potter got wrong (not in terms of shipping or anything as silly as that I mean to say in general themes, in wrapping things up quite nicely and having good grey areas which followed through and were somehwat resolved).

If you’re younger than I am I DEFINITLY recommend it, I certainly would have loved it when I first got into Harry Potter and I STILL really enjoyed it on some level, it’s just clearly for people a little younger than me, that’s all. But still good!

I just finished The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum. I actually finishe dit last night as my plane was landing, haha. It was quite the thriller indeed! Written back in the 1970s, I’m sure it is a lot different from the movie (which I plan on watching tonight). It is really good though. There is plenty of action, and suspense is rather abundant. I started reading this last summer in Italy, so it is nice to have finally finished it. I really reccomend it to anyone interested in reading a thriller.

mentalguru, I love the Percy Jackson series so much! I own the first four, and I never got around to reading the fifth one. How many are there now? I haven’t read them in a long time, perhaps I owe the series a good re-reading!

Oh my goodness! I actually just died. I have been thinking about this book all week. I read it for summer reading in middle school, and I simply loved it! Just last week I was thinking about how this would make a really good and edgy animated film.

I finally got around to reading Under the Dome, by Stephen King. I’ve had it for a while, but I just didn’t have the time to start such a lengthy novel. I took it on vacation with me and I finished it in 4 days. The book is 1,072 pages long :open_mouth: I got a major headache, but it was definitely worth it. There were a lot of characters, so thank god for the character sheet in the front of the book. It’s now my favorite novel by King.

I started reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo yesterday. I can’t wait to see what happens! The movie is apparently really good too, so I’ll probably pick it up next time I go to Wal Mart. I’m also reading Eat Pray Love. The movie version, starring Julia Roberts, is being released soon. It’s basically about this woman who travels from Italy, to India to Indonesia, immersing herself in the different cultures and trying to find peace after a messy divorce.
