This. This. WHY are they even famous? Because their dad is a famous lawer, so they’re rich. Oh awesome. And one has a s*x tape. They don’t have any talent, and for some reason they’re celebrities.
The same with Paris Hilton. Which I must say South Park made a great episode about this, saying she’s only famous for being a [spoil]whore[/spoil]and having a famous dad, and all the tabloids putting her on magazines are only making little girls look up to a young woman who spends her time whining and making s*x tapes is irresponsable. It’s sickening.
I’m 50/50 on this. I don’t juts a cartoon because it’s ‘adult humor’ or ‘child humor’. I judge based on what it is.
It’s like saying “I hate all CGI animated movies and their creators”. Because they’re all so different.
So I dislike Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Cleveland Show, Ugly Americans, Bevis & Butthead.
But I like Simpsons, South Park, King of the Hill, and Futurama.
As for the creators? I personally think it’s ridiculous to dislike a person just because they make a genre I don’t like. For example, I dislike Seth MacFarlane’s TV shows, and his humor. But I don’t see a reason why I would hate him as a person.
I agree! And you don’t watch Television, either? Jease, we’re like clones. I despise television. I only watch My Little Pony, and some old shows. high fives you and Amy I’ve tried to be tolerant. I have. I’ve watched most of them at least once. And, I do not like any of them. It’s just nasty to me.
I don’t like adult stuff in general. So many things now have certain kinds of content, or even jokes about it, and there’s so much swearing. I hate it! Even kids things now are poisoned with it! I don’t really care for the violence either, and I basically don’t want to watch anything over PG, because a combination of all of those things I mentioned is bound to be in it.
Children have been swearing and being violent long before television was even a thought. I wouldn’t blame it just on that.
And although TV does have some influence, I wouldn’t blame the creators. I’d blame the parents. If a small child watches South Park, The Simpsons, or The Hangover, their innocences weren’t destroyed by the creators of those thins. The creators inteneded for the mature content to be for, well, people over 14! Not children. So it’s the parents to be blamed.
My parents swore and drank around us, and let us watch rated R movies with them. I turned out fine. In fact, it’s made me MORE mature. I stayed clear of drugs and alcohol (well, mostly) during high school, and made better judgements.
People have the impression that if their children watch South Park or other mature content they’ll grow up to be swearing, nasty, bomb throwing, joint smoking deliquents to society. Which is funny, peoples actually South Park has made me more aware of different Philosophic and Political ideas to support or question, and keep me up with current events.
I’m not saying that first graders should watch South Park. I’d never let my child watch that show if they’re under 13! Other stuff, maybe!
I don’t care what other people like or watch. I just see the shows I mentioned as stupid. If other people like it, cool. Whatever. But I don’t, and won’t watch them.
Rated R movies is something else entirely. I’ll watch any movie except pornography, just to experience it. I need to see as many movies as possible. And I still don’t enjoy vulgar movies, unless it progresses the plot, which is rarely the case.
Yeah, well that’s understandable. I just don’t see how you could hate the creators of adult humor shows. That makes no sense. You may not like their craft, but hate them? What, have you met them?
I just saw this now! Trey and Matt are heros of mine too. They are defintely as you said, Kings of Satire. I think it’d be really fun to hang out with them.

I know someone who has hung out with them (A camera guy that happens to go and eat at the resturant I work at). He says they are nuts but really insightful.
As for adult cartoons. The only ones I don’t watch are Ugly Americans and the Cleveland show. I still watch American dad sometimes. Except for family guy (while a e=fan like I stated the show has gone down hill) imo all these shows have heart.
What! That’s crazy cool! I’m jealous! I don’t watch Ugly Americans or Cleveland Show either. I occasionally watch American Dad also.
It’s interesting what you say about adult shows that have a heart, because that’s what makes a difference to me. South Park, Simpsons, and King of the Hill all are great because they’re funny and yet they make a point as well.
“I think one of the reasons this South Park has survived is that it has a big heart at its center. Other cartoon shows have people cr*p on each other and make racist jokes. But I don’t think people tune in for that. I just don’t think a show lasts for 10 years without a heart.”
I like King of the Hill, but to me, that’s not an adult show. I mean, if you’re an idiot of any age you can’t handle any of them. But I think a mature 10-12 year old could handle King of the Hill. Maybe The Simpsons. That show is banned from my house; both parents despise it. I have no idea why. But then, they probably wonder why I leave the roo when any of the 4 Shreks is on, so it’s fair.
It’s on the Adult Swim lineup, and when it aired on Fox was in the adult themed cartoon blocks. So that’s why I included it. It may have less swearing than South Park and less s*x than Family Guy, but the episodes still deal with adult issues. (From family discourse, drinking, to taxes).
It’s defintely a show written with teenagers and adults in mind.
I’m a fan of The Simpsons but other than that I don’t watch other adult cartoons. King of the Hill never interested me much, Futurama (could you call that an adult cartoon?) is one I don’t mind but I can’t get the channel it is on anymore, and both Family Guy and South Park are too offensive and mature for my liking.
