I know they put the posters outside for every movie and I remember seeing a huge The Princess and the Frog cutout, same for Toy Story 3. But not for any other movies and I never see any artwork or them wearing t-shirts or contests and stuff. pout ![]()
That sucks SallyMcQueen. Hard to believe our cinema never does any big promotional stuff anymore. They used to post artwork on the doors and all for big blockbusters like Shrek 2. They haven’t really done anything big since I saw a huge cutout for Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
Whoa! Really? You guys don’t have that kind of thing either. I can’t believe it…something my rinky-dink town actually has that some people don’t! It’s gotta be a first.
What about the popcorn? Do they at least do that thing where they like make the bag/box all decorated with the characters from the movie?
Our cinema usually does that. We use the Orville brand of popcorn so it makes it alot better!
Yeah, we always have the popcorn things with characters on it. I’m not sure what brand of popcorn we have though. ![]()
You know, I think they do! I never buy theater food when I go to the movies. I always sneak food from other places. $3.00 for a bag of Skittles, nuh-uh. ![]()
Is it weird for me to say my favorite part of the movie was when Z falls into the Allinol balloon, because of how epically awesome the animation was on the physics relating to the balloon?
Not to say the movie was bad, I liked it a lot.
Yeah, my aunt usually loves to sneak candy and stuff from Walgreens into the cinema. I mean, our theater prices are just expensive!
It’s easy to sneak food into our cinema. The supermarket next door sells like, handbag sized bags of popcorn specifically for sneaking into the cinema! It’s brilliant! ![]()
Yeah, the cinema near me has the Walgreen’s like a minute away from there.
Hehe, I think the stewards have given up checking. It’s just, buy the ticket and go with them
.
One of the stewards is a big Pixar fan though, and whenever I’m at the cinema and I see him, we’re always chatting about upcoming films and which ones are our favourites. Coincidentally, he’s the one who sold the Cars 2 ticket to me too ![]()
No, it isn’t weird! The physics in the animation is epic! I thought the same thing when I saw that part. “Wow, that looks pretty real.” ![]()
Ballboi and definedancing: Heehee, yeah! My theater is in this huge place filled with shops, restaurants, clubs, and playthings called Downtown Disney so we always bring in food from McDonalds or leftovers from another restaurant or sometimes just bring food from home! ![]()
I forgot to mention that there was a Walmart that was finished late last year thats across from the cinema. I could probably get candy and stuff cheaper there then at Walgreens.
Also forgot to mention that there is a McDonalds, a Pizza Hut, a Burger King and a KFC within a 2 minute walk near our cinema ![]()
Back on topic, I thought that the story for Cars 2 was a mess. It’s probably the main reason why I thought Cars 2 would of worked better for the 2012 release it was supposed to have. It probably would of gave them more time to work on the story and it could of been a better film. To me, Mater kind of ruined the spy story since he didn’t do that much in it. Like I said before, it felt like us watching Mater’s antics with the two spies.
Yeah, the story-line was a huge flop in my opinion. They could have done so much and I was really disappointed with what they did do. It was still enjoyable because it with the characters I have come to love (I mean McQueen, not Mater) and I liked some of the new ones too. Other than that it wasn’t much of a thrill and very confusing at parts. If I wasn’t a Cars fan then I would most likely not have enjoyed it at all.
I agree. If I wasn’t a fan of Cars at all, I probably would of disliked this film. The spy story kind of had alot of potential during the opening but once Mater was involved, the story went downhill.
The whole sum of [i:359g94c7]Cars 2[/i:359g94c7] movie-wise: WASTED STORY POTENTIAL.
I agree with you, [b:359g94c7]Ballboi[/b:359g94c7]. Maybe if the release date was set back to 2012, we might have gotten something different and most likely, something better. I was most disappointed at the fact that they could of very easily knocked this movie out of the park. It could of been Pixar’s best movie very easily. International locations, great new characters, and with a great prequel like [i:359g94c7]Cars[/i:359g94c7]…oh yes, [i:359g94c7]very[/i:359g94c7] easily. I think the spy-theme and Mater’s starring role is what mostly contributed to the fact that [i:359g94c7]Cars 2[/i:359g94c7] was not what it could of been. The movie would of been much better if they actually followed the pattern and had the same backdrop as the first movie…Lightning McQueen and racing. Those were basically the major things in the first movie but the second movie kind of went off on it’s own path.
[i:359g94c7]Cars[/i:359g94c7]- Lightning McQueen and American racing
[i:359g94c7]Cars 2[/i:359g94c7]- Mater and International espionage?
You know, half the time I didn’t even think I was watching a sequel to [i:359g94c7]Cars[/i:359g94c7] because it was so different. That’s the hard thing and the trick to making sequels- it has to be different while being the same. You want to have something new and fresh but you have to have the sequel still follow the one before it. Yes, they had returning characters and one of the same locations but if people can go watch the sequel and not have the thought of, "Oh, I should probably watch the first one to understand that.", etc., the sequel is not a sequel.
I agree with you two. If I wasn’t a fan, I probably wouldn’t go see it. Confession time: I actually [i:359g94c7]wasn’t[/i:359g94c7] going to see it at first. I saw the trailers and was like "Well, that’s dumb." but then my [i:359g94c7]Cars[/i:359g94c7] obsession started creeping up and I realized I just had to.
I completely agree. There were some problems with the story that Pixar could of done like remove Mater completely from the spy plot. I personally thought that they could of developed a little McQueen/Francesco rivalry which would of made the film a little better. They should of expanded Cars 2’s runtime a little longer as well since the movie went by quick. At the beginning after Finn’s intro, the film just seemed a bit rushed. It’s just the first half of the film from McQueen’s return to the departure of Tokyo could of been fixed. The second half on the other hand felt much better. Besides, I don’t think many people were sasified with a Cars sequel since many people thought that the first film was Pixar’s worst.

I understand there were trying to do the whole ‘collision of worlds’ scenario but that’s what it turned out to be, a collision. And plus, I think [i:am3rz9gy]Cars[/i:am3rz9gy] was enough of a mash-up of different realms with the fast-paced life of racing and fame crash-landing (literally) into small town, rural America.
I agree with the timing]! It did feel rushed, I still don’t even completely understand why Lightning didn’t explode! Like, I know Sarge switched the fuel but Fillmore said- I mean, I don’t even know! Maybe I’m just a fail and slow. They totally had enough time to expand on scenes and other important things. [size=50:am3rz9gy]Lightning and Sally[/size:am3rz9gy]

This is true but I think Pixar had the chance to possibly redeem themselves in those people with a really just too-awesome-to-ignore sequel but that didn’t happen. Haters kept on hating.
