Central Cars 2 Discussion (Part 2)

The Francesco interview was the only one that I liked, or parts of it, anyway.

Thanks for sharing!

Ha! I love it. Thanks for sharing, Destiny!

I laughed the hardest at the part that SoA mentioned and…

Lightning: Uh, well —

Mater: It’s so important he can’t say it publicly. 8D

Plus, I liked how Finn kept dodging the questions and giving shady answers. :sunglasses:

By the way, was I the only one that noticed there was no backwards driving from Mater at all in Cars 2! How did they not add that?! :unamused:

Yeah, that is a total Mater classic! That so should have been in there!

Hmm, I don’t know whether or not he did it in the first film since I have a bad memory on it. I noticed him doing it on a Target commercial.

Of course there is!

Mater escapes from McQueen driving backwards during the bomb scene. I think even Darrell Cartrip comments something along the lines of “I don’t know who that tow truck is, but he surely is the best backwards driver in the world!”

I actually loved that reference.

Ah, yeah. Now it rings a bell to my knowledge. I also remember hearing that line when I saw the film.

Oh my gosh, yes! I remember now! This is when you know the DVD needs to come out soon. 8D

I agree. I can’t wait to pick out all the little details that you can only find after watching it about 100 times! 8D

^Yup! And this is one movie where that should be a lot of fun!

We got an early Cars 2 DVD and will watch it tomorrow!

They (the person who got it) sent me a couple of screencaps. It’s no Blu-ray, so no HD :frowning:

Finn and Shift in Radiators:

Professor Z being evil:

The Finn-ler in the Roof:

Cool! Thanks, Spirit!

Well, I tried watching this film again, and I still really don’t like it. I can pick out a few scenes hear and there that I enjoyed, but the film still leaves me angry by the end.

Incidentally, the NY Times has a new article out with Lasseter reacting to the critical reception:
nytimes.com/2011/10/18/movie … ars-2.html

Honestly, I don’t care for the way the journalist tries to make his own readings into the critical reception and box office gross. It reeks of having an agenda; so I’ll just emphasize Lasseter’s quotes:

Don’t these two quotes kind of contradict each other? I mean, maybe the suits aren’t forcing the sales grab on him, but that he’s doing it himself doesn’t make me feel any better.

Good, point, and note he said Lightninig even though Mater was the main character…

I won’t deny Mater is the main character of Cars 2, cause he clearly is, but most suitcases, backpacks and stuff I’ve seen are McQueen’s.

That’s true, Mater’s popular too. But McQueen is on the majority of the merchandise.

Great screenshots SoA! Love the shot with Finn on the rooftop.

Anyway, am I the only one that thinks Cars 2 should of been rated PG. I mean, it’s as violent as something like The Incredibles.

Yes, apparently they only do it when the characters are human.

Your right. Most of the animated films that are “PG” these days have the cast as humans.

Yeah… whether a film has human characters or not seems to affect the rating. When little kids are watching a movie with cars exploding and shooting at each other, they can just think “oh, cool!” and otherwise disregard it. But when you have that happening to human characters, it’s much easier to see that and suddenly start wondering “gee, what if something like that happened to me?”

I guess it makes some sense now. I can understand if little kids see it since they probably wouldn’t understand what’s going on. So, I guess the “G” rating was a good thing after all.
