Central Cars 2 Discussion

cars agent on a mission tour details on my site http://tinyurl.com/4gfvjl2

This is why I love Ellen. Bring Dory Back!

does anybody know if pixar is going to screen Cars 2 in a private event or something?   (before its premiere or release date)… so impatient to know and read the first critics and reactions

It was done already and there was a very bias review given out. However, everything in his review just proved to me that I’ll enjoy it a lot, and fall in love with it like I did with the first Cars.

Do you have a link? I’d love to read this biased review just out of curiousity. Any chance it could be coughMr Whitecough?

I believe Jessie is referring to the link given a page or two back about an “early screening”

What he said ^^^^

That review.

I’m disappointed with the posters… All other Pixar releases have had pretty decent ones, but Cars 2’s just seem to be the same poster but photoshopped a few times. Such a shame. But, if I was to chose the one I like best, it would be the one of Lightning and Mater looking at the road signs!
Just wanted to share my opinion on that front! :nerd: ;-p

Does anyone think that Cars 2 will get better reviews than the original? I’m hoping it does. The sequel seems much more fast-paced than the original - I remember the “slow down and relax” aspect of the original was something lots of people didn’t like. What does everyone think?

I’m pretty sure this movie will follow the pattern of the first Cars: Haters gonna hate, bitchers gonna bitch, lovers gonna love.

I belong to the last basket

Oh, I defiantly belong to the last basket too! ;-p I just wish more people would appreciate Cars.
Cars 2 is gonna be awesome! Bit worried about Professor Z though - very cliche - but I’m hoping Pixar will give us a good spy-twist!

I definitely this one will have better critical and fan reviews than the original. Even from me, and I love the first one.

Don’t know if anybody posted this link on here yet, but I think this is way too cool not to share (multiple times)

You can see bunches of in-production pictures, which will definitely melt your heart and whet your appetite! London + Paris + Porto Corsa will be nothing short of breath-taking.

Pssst! No cursing!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m already going to love it; I know it for a fact. There is nothing that was change my opinion unless it was a silent movie. That would pretty much change it.

^Wow, all that artwork is incredible! :astonished: ;-p

lovers gonna love … I’m in that club, I know Cars 2 is going to be in my all time favorite films … 4 sure

That concept art’s to die for! The Winnie the Pooh ones included are great too. This one is my favorite: cdn.stitchkingdom.com/wp-content … g_2387.jpg There’s so much style and atmosphere and passion to them… I can’t wait to see what they’ll look like in the finalized film! Just when you think the animation can’t get much better in these movies, it manages to get better.

Love the concept art! And having been to Paris, I can tell you that the L’Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysee look exactly like that (minus the talking cars, of course)!

I had a look at the dissenting blogger’s review. As far as I could tell, she wasn’t being as overly negative as coughArnold Whitecough. She says a few praises like the side characters being interesting, or how the background were beautiful even for flat drawings (the correct term is ‘matte paintings’), and that they were “animated to perfection”.

Her criticisms are well-argued. Mater isn’t a very compelling lead character (though that could be to her personal taste), and it concerns me when she says that’s it played out like an Austin-Powers spoof (which was the impression I got from the trailers). This runs contrary to Mr Lasseter’s assurance that it will be a serious spy movie. A serious spy movie has exciting action sequences, a truly scary villain, and the occssional witty double-entendre. Not toilet humour jokes (of which there appears to be many from the trailers), a semi-scary villain (though I may be proven wrong should he really get nasty later in the film), and a bumbling stranger masquerading as a secret agent. That is not a serious spy movie, that’s a spoof spy movie like Austin Powers or Get Smart. Still a spy movie though, I guess.

And her statement that the characters could be humans is kinda true. I mean, the first movie really took advantage of the Mother Road Route 66, which has huge cultural value in America and is famous for its cars that go up and down the coast. There’s the towns, which depend on the cars coming to visit them. There’s the commentary on televised sports like NASCAR, and how stars are made and then forgotten when they’re obsolete.

Cars 2, I’m afraid is like a spy movie which happens to have cars. Okay, there’s the Grand Prix. And the ‘lemon cars’ theme, which I’m looking forward to because it’s an interesting phenomenon in automobile culture. But other than these elements, there’s very little ‘car-related’ themes that are natural to the storyline.

So to summarise, I think this blogger has some important things to say. She is not biased. Cynical, yes. We don’t have to agree with her, but we can consider what she says, and then watch the movie, and then make our own judgement and see whether it matches hers instead of flippantly dismissing her opinion.

She also watched it when the movie was 70% undone.

Heres character Lewis Hamilton who is based on real racecar driver Lewis Hamilton. (unofficial first look)
