Colette's last name

Becuase of this quote, many seem to believe that this is Colette’s last name. However, it seemed like Skinner was attempting to insult Colette, and I went to a French-English translator and found out what “tatou” really means in French: armadillo.

Any thoughts on this?

You know, I personally believe that her last name is a reference to Audrey Tatou, the French actress who played the title character in the French movie Amélie, or The Fabulous Life of Amélie Poulain. But I could be wrong…

Maybe it’s a combination of both. I think that’s very interesting that it means ‘armadillo’, A113. But I think that might be coincidence- by the way Skinner said it, it did sound as though it was her surname (coupled with the fact that Skinner speaks English throughout the film, and for him to randomly insert a French word into his sentance, even if it is meant as an insult, would be a little unpredictable).

I kind of thought it was a reference to her voice actor’s (Janeane Garofalo’s) tattoos.

Interesting definition of that, lol! I highly doubt it was meant as an insult, I think he was just saying it sarcastically or something.

Wow! I thought it was her last name too, but what makes me almost be sure is what Maggie said. If it’s a french last name, then it’s completely possible it’s Colettes’. Also the tatoo theory is not only funny but very plausible.

Sounds like an insult.

I’m thinkin it’s her name. Incidentally, Audrey’s last name is spelled Tautou, in which case it doesn’t mean anything.

Besides, Skinner has no trouble insulting people in English, as we know.

8D That’s funny!

Well, maybe Tatou is Colette’s last name, and maybe Skinner said it sarcastically just to insult her?

That seems about right. It’s the juxtaposition of respectfulness and sarcasm.

Maybe he always calls her by her last name. None of the other chefs seem to. In fact, she’s the only one who gets consistently called by her first name. That doesn’t seem very fair to me. :[

Yeah, I always thought that was her last name. Of course Skinner does say it in a condescending tone, but I assume that to be her last name.

I’m still questioning it, though. “Colette Armadillo?” I’m not quite sure about that. It takes away her tough-ness.

Lots of names mean weird things. It’s probably considered separate from the actual word or something.

Plus armadillo seems a rather obtuse insult, especially for someone like Skinner who has no problem being directly offensive.

Tatou or Armadillo fits her quite well. Hard on the outside but really quite soft and fragile on the inside.

Wow. I never thought of that before. Dash, you are a genius.

Well, she’s listed as “Collette Tatoo” in the credits.
