Lanny -
I also favor Andreas’ style of drawing when creating/animating villians such as Scar and Jafar. I actually got
to meet the man not too long ago – he is a nice guy. ![]()
Scar and Zera , and the hyenas were cool and funny ! Then
iago rocks !
Ursula is cool too .
Wow , this was harder than I thought . There are after all so many
villians !
But scar was the best , since he always insulted his sidekicks alot . And then the sidekicks
got revenge in a very brutal way I don’t think I should say .
The Jafar was the first Disney Villain to give
me nightmares. He and his genie form was crazy.
For main villains Scar, Hades and Shere Khan. Does Demona from Gargoyles count?
As for sidekicks the Hyenas, Iago and Krok.
The sidekicks are not really bad. They are like the
Igor of the villains.
Heh – the sidekicks are the ones I feel sorry for: the ones I can relate to; which is why I am rather fond
of them. Call me weird… ![]()
Thats okay. The side kicks are
uually the reason why I love the bad guys.
Mitch- Yeah, I feel the
same. They’ve been roped into doing something that deep down, they don’t want to do, but something has happened
in their lives to make them switch over to the other side.
The
Star Swordsman - Exactly. ![]()
lizardgirl - My point exactly.
It’s as if they have previously lost everything in their lives, and the only way for them to regain their
“consciousness”, so to speak, is to join forces with someone whom they would rather avoid, for some
reason. A very good example of this is Bartok from Anastasia. I have no hypothesis
as to why he decided to join one of the most evil villians on the planet. ![]()
Because if he didn’t, the film would be lacking a character to fill the
pivotal role of comic-relief bad-guy-sidekick. ![]()
The sidekicks often are
incredibly more popular than the bad guys, and sometimes even the good guys. Two
examples come to mind off the top of my head, at any rate, with undoubtedly many more that I don’t know of.
Bartok got his own spin-off film, which I remeber as actually having been not half-bad (although it has been a
while since I watched it), and of course good old Iago is unable to ever leave the Aladdin universe even after
Jaffar exited stage left. Oh! Exhibit C suddenly comes to mind, too: I seem to recall I recent straight-to-DVD
sequel with the name “Kronk” in the title… I could probably think of many more, too, if I sat down
and really tried to. But you get the picture.
As for my favorite Disney villain? That I am completely
unqualified to speak on.
I’ll probably say Scar without any real, thought-out reasoning and just leave it at
that. He’s really good at being manipulative and stuff, that’s my reason for him being a good villain.

I guess I’ll have to break this down into sections:
Ha – good point. Yes, that is most often the case,
as side-kicks are one of the most available means of exhibiting humor throughout a film.
Heh – oh gosh, I
almost forgot about that film. I used to watch it all the time, as it was pretty
comical. I kind of regret giving it away now, although the tape itself wasn’t working anyway. ![]()
Yeah,
it does seem as though the side-kicks will – more often than not – get most of the attention film-wise, so that
even the main character(s) will be left “in the dust”, so to speak. Films such as
Aladdin and The Emperor’s New Groove, both of which
you mentioned, featured side-characters so popular that separate movies were made just for them.
However,
there will be the “odd side-kick out” whom no one will give much thought to. Take, for example, Sir
Hiss from Disney’s Robin Hood. He has to be one of the most miserable Disney
characters I’ve ever met; I can’t help but feel sorry for the guy. Heh.
Oh yes, Scar is awesome. I
actually got to meet the man who animated Scar: Andreas (Deja?). That was a treat. ![]()
But yeah;
interesting points there, DElf. I’m rather surprised at how far this discussion has gone: from villians to
side-kicks. It just goes to show how popular those “other” minions can be…
I have to say my favorite villain is
Maleficent of ‘Sleeping Beauty.’ Her design is awesome and she is absolutely evil. Plus, anybody who can turn
into a giant fire-breathing dragon gets an A+ in my book.
My favorite sidekick is Kronk. He’s so adorably
stupid I just want to hug him. He got all the good moments in ‘the Emperor’s New Groove.’
I’m with ya there! ![]()
Dragons are one of my
main non-Pixar interests, and Maleficent in her dragon form is one of my favorites. Her design is
wicked.
~~=oP
My favorite villian of all time has got to be
Captain Hook
Let’s see, Hades, Malificent and Frollo…
oddly enough, they all have
something to do with hell…
um…
I scare myself sometimes… ^^;
Captain
Hook, definitely Captian Hook!
I find it wierd how some villains can look so vile, but really, they are just people who
can’t handle the pressure.
yeah,
look at Jafar for example…
his beard is sooo… say it with me…

twisted
Not really what I mean. I’ll give an example. Take
Captain Hook. He looks so menacing, but then again, he looks so sensitive.
