I saw the trailer, and I was pretty amazed. I amanxious to see it.
I finally bought the book about a week ago and read the entire thing in approximately five hours. I loved it, even though the story was quite ominous and the illustrations freaked me out. I’m looking forward to seeing the film this Friday or Saturday.

I got Coraline fever xD, because when I was learning about the topic of theme in language arts, I started jotting down random books and movies and their themes to get used to the topic…and Coraline was the first one I wrote down.
And now I wanna be Coraline for Halloween…gotta get a blue, short-hair wig (somewhere) and buttons on a…pair of goggles? Glasses? Mask? That’ll be the hard part, xD. Anything but sewing them on.
Mitch: You share my excitement I couldn’t put the book down either.
I’m gonna see Coraline later today. VERY excited!!
Reviews are pretty good so far! 80 on Metacritic; 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. =)
I just got back from seeing Coraline! I really enjoyed it. The animation was amazing for a stop motion film. It was very smooth and expressive. At times it seemed like it could’ve been CG. It was insane some of the animation feats that the talents artists pulled off. The story line was really neat. I hadn’t read the book before hand, so I like how the different twists played out. It has a sinister edge to it.
I’m a stop motion class right now, so I spent the majority of the film wondering how on earth they animated certain scenes! Blew my mind. The amount of detail, hard work, and patience that goes into make a stop motion film is insane. I know that’s the same for any type of animation, but from my experience with it, it is the hardest medium of animation. There are a lot of hoops you have to go through for things that are easy in both CG and 2D.
Two thumbs up! I definitely recommend you go see it!
I didn’t see it in 3D. I opted to just watch it normally so I could focus on the animation. I’m a nerd like that. I’d like to hear how watching it in 3D was from anyone who has the opportunity to do so!
That’s good to hear, Hannahmation. Another one to put under my radar of upcoming releases.
SOOOOOOOO EXCITED 2 see this in 3D!!!
Gonna be great!!!
Well, my sister and I saw it last night. Needless to say, I enjoyed the heck out of it and would not mind seeing it again, in the least. The animation, in particular, was astounding; I’d never seen stop-motion that smooth. Some of those sequences must have taken them ages to shoot. In addition, I love how they stayed true to the book on most levels. A new character – one who was not in the original story – was introduced, and several aspects of the plot-line were changed or expanded upon, but, otherwise, it pretty much mirrored that of its paperback counterpart.
A marvelous film, overall! I give it a 10/10 rating.
Ha-ha. Cool!

Guys, from what I’ve heard, Coraline is a computer animated film, just like the Pixar films we love so dearly. It’s just MADE to look like it’s stop-motion. You know, like Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Flushed Away. It was just to keep the look of Henry Selick’s last two creepy-looking films. By the way, I’m getting Coraline from the library by my house. I’ll tell you people that are kinda unsure whether to like it or not. It looks REALLY good, though!
Actually, it’s stop motion with more computer post-processing than usual to perfect shots.
I might see this soon. The animation is simply spectacular.

It shows some of the stop-motion process.

For anyone who has seen any behind the scenes footage or been on the set for Coraline very well know Coraline is a stop-motion animated film, not CGI. There are CGI elements put into the final product, but overall, it is stop-motion.
I want to enter Coraline’s official website, but whenever I get on it, the window just closes.
this film is entirely stop-motion. try looking on the actual site for the film next time.
I am unable to get on the site!!!
I just got back from seeing Coraline 3-D, and it was awesome!
It was definitely worth going out to theaters to see, and the 3-D just gave the film that much more depth and crisp visuals. Someone commented previously that they chose not to see it in 3-D, so they could pay better attention to the animation - I think the 3-D wasn’t distracting from the wonderful animation at all, it just gave it that much more depth. So for those of you who have yet to see Coraline, I definitely recommend seeing it in 3-D.
It was a film that has the child in mind, but it is also a film that is dark and spooky that gives the edge and interest of what will happen next to the adults. So with that said, I think anyone could enjoy this film. But be aware this film COULD frighten some people, because it does have spooky moments; but overall, it’s not too over the top. So grab your friends and family, and GO see Coraline, it is the best film so far this year. It should be a treat.
For an overall rating, I give Coraline four and a half stars out of five.
I just got back from seeing it and even saw it in 3D. Before i go into what I thought about the movie I want to talk about the woman sitting next to me and my wife. She was yelling to her friend how she gets so mad when they change things to bring books to movies. She said that anyone who read the book first wouldn’t like the movie at all.
I haven’t read the book so maybe that’s why I liked it as much as I did. I went ahead and read about a few of the changes from the book to the big screen and I like how they pulled it off.
Well, I can tell you right now that what she said doesn’t apply to everyone. I read the book before-hand and I loved the film, which is unusual, as I am extremely critical of book-to-film adaptions if they’re not done “correctly”. Sure, there were a few changes made to the production, but I take it that they were simply trying to add more to it than what’s in the book, as the book itself is only 162 pages long. I don’t know. It all depends on each individual viewer’s opinion, I suppose.

That’s good to hear. I just may have to go see it again, but in 3D this time!
