^There were quite a number of times when I seriously considered buying each of the Princess dolls back when they first released, but thank goodness I didn’t, because I donated/threw away at ton of my Barbie stuff I had a while back (Explanation: they were left outside for a while and I was too lazy to clean them up myself plus I’d lost interest in them for some reason; I’m still pretty mad at myself for doing that) Somehow, my Odette survived all these years, even though she’s lost her shoes and necklace and her hair needs a lot of work. I also plan to replenish as many of those lost pieces as I can… so yeah. Those dolls look lovely, btw!
I had very few dolls when I was little, and very few of them were Disney. In fact, I only miss one that I had: My Favorite Fairytale Jasmine. <3 Only now(since 2010) am I bothering to “collect” all the Disney heroes and ladies in doll form.
I tend to collect things that have something to do with what I like, rather than specific items. I used to collect anything Lincoln related when I was younger. Now I collect things that are Beatles and Star Trek related. And things pertaining to various Pixar movies as well
One of these days I’m going to start collecting Disney Pins, but mainly Pixar ones, so I can pin them all to a denim handbag and sport my Pixar obsession everywhere I go!
Sort of! I post a lot on my instagram/tumblr. I’d be happy to upload my whole collection, but it’d be next week. (I have a few pins in transit and my sister is bringing some from her trip to Disney)
That’s one of the coolest things about Disney pin trading, is that since there’s so many, you can sort of specialize in an area of pins. I mainly collect Monsters Inc/University, The Three Caballeros, Dumbo and Disney Ducks.
Another thing I like about pin trading is that you don’t need to be by the parks! I’ve bought and traded mostly online. There’s always risks involved, but overall my experience has been pleasant! But yeah, it’s a pretty expensive hobby.
I’m very excited, because my sister bought me a Terri and Terry Perry pin from Disneyland, and it comes with a mystery pin as well! I can’t wait for her to get back so I can see what it is.
With other pin traders or cast members? i’ll be honest, a lot of the pin traders in the park are really extreme and rude, I haven’t had great experience with them. And the cast members have to trade with you , but the pins are usually sucky and often fake.
If you’re a castmember (disney employee). Because then everyone has opportunity to make a trade.
So castmembers are given pin lanyards, as part of their job at Disneyland. It’s not their personal pins, it’s Disney property. So it’s a great idea, but the problem is that everyone trades fake pins with the castmembers.
So Disney makes their own pins. They are released at parks and at other Disney stores or museums. However, like there are bootlegged DVDs, there are bootlegged pins. They are replicas made by companies usually in Asia. They are in very low quality and are undesirable, but sometimes can trick you.
So my sister came back from Disney today! She brought me:
*A WALL-E pin
*An EVE pin that came with the WALL-E one
*A Terri and Terry pin
*A mystery pin that came with T&T (George Sanderson with JOX logo)
*A Pixar Lamp pin
Then a I’m Graduating Pin and a little angry Donald pin were for free. And also she traded one of my pins for an Evil Queen pin.
Oh I have quite a few. The thing is I have a Disney/Pixar collection of dolls and action figures, and I have a collection of Barbies. So it’s quite large and growing. I have about 35-40 Disney dolls, including special editions, and produced by Disney Store as well as Mattel. Then I have probably around 20-25 Barbies. I also have action figures, of Pixar characters, Disney characters, Batman, and a few others.
