Enchanted

Thanks, guys! (I just edited the list and added a few more right now)

If you notice more, I can add them in.

What about when Edward is dancing with Nathaniel? That is almost exactly like how Prince Philip danced with his father King Hubert.

What I found interesting was in the Animation Podcast, animator Andreas Deja mentioned the Philip/Hubert dance scene was one of his favorite pieces of animation. Deja also did some animation on ‘Enchanted,’ and I’ve wondered since then if he animated the Edward/Nathaniel dance.

One thing I did find funny still was when it’s revealed where Giselle first gets the material for her aqua-green gown. I still find that was the best of all her outfits.

uruseiranma: I didn’t notice that. I’ll add it on the list if you want.

I liked the concept and some of the jokes and songs, but it went a little too long, and personally, I know I’m not the audience for it, so I won’t criticize it for not being what I like, so, it’s a Three-Quarter Waffle.

LIST UPDATE: I recognized a few more classic Disney references while watching Enchanted again!

When Giselle [spoil]gives money to an old women on a bench at the park[/spoil], listen carefully. The old women says, “Would you like to feed the birds? Dollar a bag.” Sound familiar? It’s a reference to Mary Poppins!

When Edward is in the [spoil]hotel, changing channels on the “magic mirror” (aka TV)[/spoil], is it just me or does the background music on one of the channels, for just a second, sound like a minor instrumental of Beauty and the Beast?

In the That’s How You Know song scene, the crowds following Giselle and singing along are like the village people following Belle, who’s reading a book, and singing about her in Beauty and the Beast.

Oh, and Lady and the Tramp reference: the restaurant Robert and Giselle dine in is called “Bella Notte”.

Here are a few more The Little Mermaid ones:
Narissa spies on Giselle when her animated image appears in the fish tank. A fish swims by and she threatens to bite it, imitating the shark Ariel and Flounder escaped.

The villains in both use the same type of crystal ball.

In the restaurant, when Gisells finds Pip, Pip happily kisses her cheek. Similar to how Ariel kisses Sebastian gratefully when she’s on shore.

On the couch in one shot, after Giselle and the animals have just cleaned up, is a stuffed dog that looks like the dog Max.

I think the first one is the best find, in my opinion. I don’t like to brag, but I think I’m the first to point the Mary Poppins reference out. On most sites I’ve seen that have Enchanted references, they only mention TLM, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast. :unamused:

EDIT: New one! I’ve been informed that some of the dancers in the That’s How You Know part were actually the chimney sweepers in Mary Poppins.

bright dot-dasher - What a list! Nice job

I thought it was fun, and actually it’s gotten better with more viewings. The only thing I can’t stand is the guy
McDreamy or what ever. He can’t act that well or his voice is really monatone or something. Amy Adams did a fantastic job though, and is amazing. Fun movie overall.

carlfredricksen: Sorry for the late notice but thanks!

Heheh, I watched the movie again yesterday. Has anyone noticed that Prince Edward’s guesses on Pip’s pantomimes aren’t only self-centered but rhyme?

“Nathaniel’s glad to have me near.”
“You’d feel you die without me here.”
“Nathaniel likes the way I leap?”
“I’m handsome even when I sleep!”

OH! And I JUST noticed a Classic Disney reference that’s HARD to catch, but it’s THERE! Not to brag, but I haven’t seen or heard ANY mentions of this reference anywhere, so I’m kinda proud of myself for catching this, the first to from what I know. Ok, enough babbling:

You know when Prince Edward checks out the television “magic mirror”? If you pay very close attention to what you see and hear on the channels he surfs. One, as I’ve mentioned before, is a sound clip from “Pink Elephants” in Dumbo. And the other- which is the one I just noticed yesterday- is from Fun and Fancy Free, and you can even get a short visual of it.

I would NEVER have noticed this if it had not been for my long quest to relive Disney Classics, popular and underrated, again.

OK if you want to catch it, next time you see Enchanted, keep a close eye on the TV Edward is playing around with. Listen to the background closely for a character mumbling “I don’t like them sad endings”. Wait until you catch a glimpse of the character on the last box of this image:

That’s a clip from Fun and Fancy Free, which includes two puppets and a girl being told the story of Mickey and the Beanstalk by a man. “I don’t like them sad endings” is when the character (sorry, forgot his name) feels sorry for Willie the giant, saying “he was just misunderstood”.

AND (this one I actually noticed before but I’m unsure of it), when Nathaniel sees the channel that includes the quote “how can I like a man who doesn’t even like himself?”, at the beginning you’ll hear something along the tune of “Beauty and the Beast” in the background music, but it’s a little different

I really enjoyed Enchanted especially since it’s not the stereotypical Disney Princess film if you will
what slightly annoys me is that the typical Disney Princess always features a girl who just by looking at her, you know that her getting the prince in the story is a no brainer for her and of course, the handsome prince in the story is always conviently Mr. Right
places hand to forehead I’m sorry but that is always such an aggravation for me, kind of like a bad message to young girls if you will
the reality is in real life, the first good looking guy you see will not always be Mr. Right and along with that, not every single girl is considered a model off of a magazine, after all, every girl is beautiful in their own way
but that is what I love about Enchanted, Princess Giselle’s prince, the person whom she is meant to be with is not the handsome prince of our story, in fact it’s someone you don’t expect
this film is considered one of my favorites next to TNBC of course

I loved this film, some of the songs are the best.
I liked Patrick’s character for once. The princess didn’t bother me.
The romance between the two was cute and I liked the villain.
Over all, I give it a 5/5.
In fact I have it on DVD, even my family likes it.

I actually love this. I love most(all except animated sequels) Disney films, but I like how this one is different, sort of like Lilo and Stitch.

It’s a fun film, and I like Amy Adams. I’m waiting for a Broadway version.
