Cogstar, welcome to Pixar Planet, first off, and second, if you thought Auto was great, click the signature on any post of mine to read AUTO-Biography. I will try to update today.
Ack! Double post I just wanted to post this URL of a video I’ve been working on. Despite the blueness of everything else, Auto’s lens remains red. I cannot change who he is. I hoped to have captured a little more of his character in this video.
Thanks Auto, I read the first two chapters of your fic, and I have to say it is very interesting and well written
AUTO-Biography…COMPLETED!
I also posted to mention a friend of mine on Youtube had read AUTO-Biography and stated:“You must have found something special in Auto that none of us did.” While I did see more to him than meets the eye (Pun alert), I don’t think it was necessarily special, I just kicked it up a notch. So thanks to all who supported it, and I’ll be writing two new fan fictions here now, the Pajama Sam one, and the M-O story.
Until later then. ^_-
Interesting topic here, AUTOA113. I’ve never really thought about AUTO this way before.
I do agree with the fact that you see AUTO as not being evil and merely following a directive. That is very true. He is not an evil soul who intends to keep humanity imprisoned on perpetual vacation. In fact, I believe that maybe underneath that cold, mechanical heart, he did want to return (hey, he’s probably tired of steering a spaceship for seven centuries!), but at the same time, he did not want to disappoint Shelby Forthright and appear defective.
However (and no offense or debate intended here), the measures that AUTO took to obey his directive were self-serving, and he disregarded the effects that his actions would have on the human passengers, such as his mutiny against McCrea and the fact that he steered the ship just to get the captain off of him, not thinking about what that would do to the passengers down below on the lido deck.
Again, no offense intended. I know you love this character, and I don’t want to start a whole argument over this.
Nono, not at all, JustSoWall-eCrazy! Those are some really great points!
In the words of my preteen hero, Pajama Sam:
“I never thought of it that way.”
Thanks. I’m not really an AUTO fan, but he is intriguing and interesting to study.
BTW, I read your post about the term “autocracy”, and I’ve decided to also share a few terms I’ve heard that start with “Auto”:
Automaton: a robot; machine
Autonomous: self-governing
Automation: replacement of human workers by technology
Yup. The whole AUTO- prefix is really about self, mechanical beings or automatic happenings.
What if I think both? xD He’s an awesome, interesting character, but he’s also a very confused jerk.
I really liked Auto. He has the kind of intimidating voice of a villain, but he’s really just a victim of his own directive. He would not have forced the Axiom to stay in space forever if he could help it.
