Favourite Movie Scenes

Toy Story 2 - The recreation of the “unshown episode” in Woody’s Roundup with Woody/Jessie on the wheelbase/axle of the plane! Gripping stuff!

The Incredibles - Tony/Violet at track meet. 'Nuff said.

Finding Nemo - the “I don’t hate you Dad” scene. Hate to accept it, but there’s a little tear in my eye there.

Non-Pixar films:

Oceans’ 12 - When Danny reveals to The Night Fox that, despite his stealthy moves with the lasers and crap, Danny’s team simply swapped the egg in the train. That always cracks me up - so simple yet laughter ensues!

Back To The Future - “1.21 GIGAWATTS?!”

Blast From The Past (I’m a time-travelling fanatic):
Adam: Eve, can I skate around your block?
Troy: (in an implying tone) How about it, Eve, can he skate around your block?

The Ron Clark Story: When Matthew Perry fails at rapping.

Run Fat Boy Run: Love the kid backtalking. Can’t quote him cause he’s a bit crude in that part :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t really have any particular favourite scenes as I don’t like to dissect the films I watch. However two scenes that I do like are:

In Ratatouille; Rémy is leaving the sewers and he’s running in the ceiling-space of some houses. He see’s two people fighting over a gun, runs off and then hears a gunshot, when he looks back the pair are kissing. I’m not sure why I like it, the whole scene just has a really ‘French’ feel to it, it’s like an French tv show…

In Wall•e; well, pretty much the whole movie is my favourite scene but one that particularly stands out is right at the end [spoil]after EVE has fixed Wall•e but he has revered to his primary directive[/spoil], that whole scene is so well done, it’s lovely.

Hmm, looks like both my favourite scenes are from Pixar films, guess that shows who the best film studio is…

Oh yeah! What an awesomely wicked fantabulous idea! Here are some of mine (I have, and can, watch these over and over again without getting bored!) maybe you guys have seen and loved a few of 'em:

Wall-E and Eve’s kiss and spacewalk in the “Define Dancing” scene from Wall-E.

Linguini and Collette’s accidental kiss in Ratatouille.

Lightning and Sally’s drive through the forest and past the waterfall in Cars.

Mittens teaching Bolt how to be a real dog in the “Barking at the Moon” montage from Bolt.

Jack and Annie’s escape in each other’s arms from underneath the speeding bus in Speed.

The bus jumping the freeway gap in the “Leap of Faith” scene in Speed.

John McClane diving off the exploding rooftop of a skyscraper in Die Hard.

The pulse-pounding yet hilarious Hummer/Ferrari car chase through San Francisco from The Rock.

Riggs and Murtaugh’s impromptu bomb defusal scene in the opening sequence of Lethal Weapon 3 (“Get the cat!” 8D)

Riggs tricking Murtaugh into flapping his arms like a chicken while in his undies to distract an armed arsonist in the opening sequence of Lethal Weapon 4.

Bond pursuing a bomb-maker (played by real-life freerunner Sebastian Foucan) up and down a half-completed high-rise in the opening sequence of Casion Royale.

Vesper strolling into the casino room in that stunning violet number, distracting Bond momentarily in Casino Royale.

The Joker walking out of an exploding Gotham Hospital in a nurse’s outfit from The Dark Knight.

Marty driving the DeLorean through time for the first time while evading terrorists in Back to the Future (seems like we have a lot of BttF fans here!)

Jason Bourne pushing his battered taxi to the limits in the climatic car chase from The Bourne Supremacy.

Mumble leading the penguins in the “Boogie Wonderland” scene from Happy Feet.

Jack Sparrow and crew overturning a ship with their own body weight in the “Up is Down” scene from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

Jack Sparrow pole-vaulting, then falling off a cliff, crashing through several suspension bridges in the process from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.

Simba and Nala rediscovering each other in the “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” scene from The Lion King.

Spirit and Rain courting each other in the “Swimming” montage sequence from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

Chihiro waiting for the train at the station in the middle of the ‘infinite sea’ from Spirited Away.

As you can tell, I’m a sucker for sappy romantic scenes and heart-racing action sequences.

DocKenobi - Aw, man. You should have included it! That’s like… the classic sequence of all classic sequences in Star Wars.

Oh, heck, yeah! I can’t believe I forgot about that one…

– Mitch

That’s true, Mitch, but I gotta say for me, it doesn’t get any more classic than the Binary Sunset. It says so much in just that one shot. Say what you will about George Lucas, but you can’t deny that he is amazing at telling things with visuals.

That’s very true… which is good because he doesn’t have dialogue to back himself up

DocKenobi - Heheh. You do have a point. The shot itself is quite poignant and expressive; nothing quite like it…

Well, heck, yeah. One of the only good things about The Phantom Menace were the visuals and the technological side of it. Absolutely mind-blowing graphics, there were. Lucas definitely has that cut out for him; I only wish he had kept the direction solidifed for the latest trilogy.

But I’m getting off-topic…

– Mitch

Yeah, that’s my fav moment from the movie, too. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

I LOVE the scene from the oil industry analogy tragdey film There Will Be Blood when William Bandy finds out that [spoil]Daniel has killed Henry and then Daniel’s Baptism afterwards.[/spoil] Day-Lewis is an acting genius!

Wall-e when [spoil]Wall-e’s memory is wiped[/spoil]

… got a bit, well, erm, uh, em, emotional when I first saw Wall-E. Good thing to add in the storyline though.

Thats why its a good scene, at least after hes fine

That bit in The Big Lebowski when Jesus is introduced and Walter is telling the Dude and Donny about what Jesus had done before, and then Jesus licks his bowling ball and starts dancing.

And in Fargo, when Carl’s partner in crime says the word ‘unguent’. Just that word and the way he says it. And the bit just before when Carl is going to break into the woman’s house and he’s standing there, in full view of her, wearing a balaclava, clearly just about to break into her house, and she’s watching him.

Yes, I’m having a bit of a Coen brothers binge at the moment.

“unungent!!!”

Twist and shout scene - Ferris Bueller’s day off
Men of Harlech scene - Zulu
Buzz and Woody meet on Andy’s bed - Toy Story
It’s alive!, It’s alive! scene - 1931 Frankenstein
Police Station Massacre - The Terminator
Dororthy arrives in Oz - Wizard of Oz
‘Shocking, Positively Shocking’ scene - Goldfinger
Openeing scene, Buzz video game - Toy Story 2
Opening Police Chase - The Driver

Yes, that was good! Love that movie.

Let’s see if I can remember anymore off the top of my head:

Moscow Car Chase, The Bourne Supremacy - Bourne takes a Volga taxi for a harrowing escape from the police and an assassin, to John Powell’s heartpounding music. The best movie car chase, period.

Up is Down, POTC At World’s End - Featuring one of my favourite pieces from the soundtrack, with a truly novel concept of worlds-transversing.

Romantic Flight, How to Train Your Dragon - The most sublime flight sequence since Avatar and Wall-E. A true piece of cinematic heaven.

Learn Fast or Die, Avatar - One of my favourite ‘training montages’ of any movie, as we see Jake’s character development and relationship deepen with Neytiri and her people, at the expense of his original mission and ‘real-life’ body. Beautiful music, wonderful visuals, and some pretty funny ‘fail’ moments.

Madagascar Foot Chase, Casino Royale - A spectacular introduction to Daniel Craig as the titular character, as he pursues a bombmaker through a construction site and an embassy.

Wall Rat, Ratatouille - Excellent cinematography, and cute soundtrack from Mikey G, as we follow Remy’s journey through the labyrinthine walls and roofs of Paris to his dream.

Hospital Boom, The Dark Knight - The interesting juxtaposition of a clown in a nurse’s outfit calmly walking away from an exploding building remains one of the most indelible images from this blockbuster.

Gun Assembly Showdown, New Police Story - Jackie Chan takes on Daniel Wu one last time in a nail-biting race for Nicholas Tse’s life on the roof of the Hong Kong Convention Centre. The full-circle redemption of the hero protagonist, and a riveting finale to this awesome HK action flick.

My favorite movie scenes:

Geonosian Arena Showdown - Attack of the Clones

“Define Dancing” - WALL•E

Anna’s band at the House of Blues - Freaky Friday

Opening Space Battle - Revenge of the Sith

Padmé meets Anakin - The Phantom Menace

Padmé and Anakin’s picnic - Attack of the Clones

Mitchie and Shane sing “This is Me” at the Final Jam - Camp Rock

“Hasta La Vista” - Camp Rock

That scene in Over The Hedge when the lady trips on the laser beam trap in her backyard.

“Fabulous” - High School Musical 2

and finally…

Astrid and Hiccup riding on Toothless throught the Night Sky with the Northern Lights - How to Train Your Dragon

My most favorite scenes that I can think of right now is:

*Terminator 1: when the T-800 (aka Arnold Swarzchenegger) makes its first attempt to kill Sarah Connor in a New Wave nightclub. I love the buildup of intensity; everything goes in slow motion as Sarah finally realizes that her life was that close to ending right then and there.

*Terminator 2: T-800 says just before [spoil]shattering a frozen T-1000[/spoil], “Hasta la Vista, Baby.”

*Wall-E: many of the scenes with M-O. Don’t know why I find him so funny.

*Airplane: “Surely you can’t be serious.” “I’m very serious. And don’t call me Shirley.”

*Spaceballs: Dark Helmet “playing with his dolls, again.”

*UHF: the many spoofs throughout, ranging from “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” to “Rambo”! has vivid memories of Weird Al Yankovic blowing up everything and Seinfeld’s Michael Richards enjoying it XD

Now to add more to my list!

-The Princess & the Frog has many awesome parts, but for some reason I really enjoy seeing the animation of the voodoo magic and the shades of Dr. Facilier. So Friends on the Other Side, the the whole climax! [spoil]I just love how all the different sacrifices for friends are made. If you think about it, Ray, Louis, Tiana, Naveen, and Charlotte were all willing to risk their life or life the way they want it for someone else. Really sweet concept that gives it that deep Classic feeling.[/spoil]

-Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas- I loved the siren scene. They really nailed this scene, I think, and they animated the sirens in an interesting way- figures of water! That’s creative. The music for this scene was outstanding- it’s just really lovely harmony but you can also hear the kind of eerie undertone. Also, I like how it happens right after Sinbad states that there’s no need for a woman on board. Because when the sirens come up, Marina has to take the wheel, and it’s her chance to shine as a heroine. That sure showed Sinbad, whether he admits it or not!

-How to Train Your Dragon: I’m gonna have to say the part where [spoil]Hiccup finds out more about dragons’ weaknesses through times with Toothless. It’s a pretty enjoyable scene to see Hiccup making his way from zero to hero in the eyes of others, and Astrid getting real pissed off at it. [/spoil]

Let’s see, what else…

I really liked the opening for Up, the Married Life scene. It’s really touching and unique and also a bit tearjerking while it makes you smile at some parts, and the music is flawless with it.
Another scene I liked from Up is, I think, them meeting Kevin. Just seeing this giant monster-sized bird being so playful with Russell after just meeting him- it’s so cute. Russell’s great with wild animals, huh?

In Shorts, I liked the staring contest that goes throughout the film. Its hilarious. But I wonder if [spoil]in the story they took time outs when they had to shower or something…? Uhhhh it’s a good thing movies leave bathrooms out most of the time, right? Forget I said that… [/spoil] What’s funny is that their boredom buster game just prevented them from realizing what was happening right there in the neighborhood.

In Bambi I just loved seeing little Bambi discover new things like flowers and snow. It’s so adorable and innocent, I have to smile, and I could cry.

In The Swan Princess, I enjoyed the beginning song “This is My Idea” with little Odette and Derek growing up together, at first hating each other as if they were newly stepbrother and stepsister or something, then Odette trying to be friends but being avoided, then Derek having a slight crush and kind of still complaining…and yeah…

I know, I know. I’m listing random movies. Well this is what I could think of at the moment.

I also like Ride of Rohirrim from LOTR Return of the King.
