Favourite Scene(s)

What’s your favourite scene(s) in the

film & why?

Spoiler alert

The

Opening Race - It’s exhiliarating and exciting. No Pixar opening drags you head first into the world the film

takes place in like this. And “Real Gone” is a cool song. Wanna help me engineer it taking Christmas

Number 2? (I say 2 because nothing will beat X Factor  )

Tractor Tipping - It’s funny. 'Nuff

said.

“Our Town” - It’s moving.

Doc at Willy’s Butte - Perfect Music + Graphics +

Cinematography = 42/10. It’s a beautiful scene. Doc’s exposition of his past is also well done with Paul

Newman’s voice.

Lightning Leaving Town - Harv’s callous reassurement contrasts nicely as Lightning is

cut off from his new friends. I love the way Doc is left alone with the blinking yellow light, the symbol of

Radiator Springs’ decline.

King’s Crash and Lightning’s Sportsmanship - Again the cinematography was

great, and Lightning’s act of nobility was truly inspiring. It shows how far his character act has

come.

Pixar Spoofs - Funny John Ratzenberger tribute.

“Find Yourself” - This was a clever

little music video to Brad Paisley’s song which starts off with a Joe Ranft tribute, then shows slow-motion

clips of the film, making it really touching.

I think RMS Oceanic pretty much covered it for me – I would have chosen the same

scenes, as well.

However, my favorite moment would most definitely have to be when Doc relived his past

at Willy’s Butte. It was such a touching scene, and one that I’ll never forget. There is something about the

music, the close-cut shots, and the exhilaration of the moment that puts me “in there”. My heart starts

pumping whenever I watch it. It’s almost as if I’m experiencing what Doc is experiencing…

Our Town is a given favourite… a very

emotional scene that really touched me.

One of my other favourites was the scene when McQueen discovers

the three Piston cups in Doc’s old garage place. It was such a turning point in the film. The way the cup was

portrayed (with rusty tools in it) and the way McQueen looked at it was an incredible moment. I was trying to

imagine what was going through his mind. Also, the background music is what really brought the scene to

life.

The “let’s go for a drive” sequence,

stunning animation.

I would say that too just because I’ve only saw that on the trailer &

not the whole film itself! Boy, do I need to see the film…

:open_mouth: Shock horror.

Can yo explain

your actions.

My favorite scene is when the “punk cars” make their first appearance and

then proceed to toy around with a drowsy Mack. 8D

I also love the scene in which Mater demonstrates his

backwards driving talents.

That’s why my thoughts on this film

doesn’t really count as my final decision. But don’t worry, I will classify my favourite scene(s) next

Wednesday…

If you are refering to the Australian

2-Disc DVD version that was available on eBay a while back with a shipping date of Wednesday October 25th, (I

bought one! ) keep in mind it takes 5-7 days to ship.

It suddenly strikes me that the main downside to

the Australian version is we probably lose Jeremy Clarkson as Harv. :frowning: Does anyone know if Jeremy Piven was Harv

in Australia?

This may sound cheesy, but the entire movie! I

just adore every second of it! <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

Love" /> And I’m amazed by the detail throughout the entire movie!
Though being

a Ferrari fan I am especially amused by the scene in my signature .
Oh, and of course the scene at the

end of the movie where the Ferrari visits Luigi’s store. I just love how Luigi’s mouth tremble when he hears

the sound of the Ferrari engine.

I was

puzzled over the Jeremy Piven thing on Wikipedia, why did they use him for the voice of harv elsewhere. Did they

use him for harv in America too.

Anyway, I completely forgot about the punk cars messing around with Mack,

that was really funny as well, plus cool, the animation was just simply unreal throughout.

And someone

help me out, will Cars be released in HD soon. Are all the Pixar movies in HD.

A wk to ship (or deliver) from High Wycombe?! I live not too far away from where

the DVD is gonna be dispatched so hopefully it won’t take that long

I was

about to state that on my original post; ‘either the scene(s) you love or the whole film itself…’

My absolute, without a doubt, no questions asked favorite scene is Doc racing around the Butte. It’s so

awesome! I love the music, I love the way it was shot, and Doc is so amazing how he can still do that! He made it

look like so much fun (especially taking that curve, turning right to go left) and that he still deep down

really enjoyed it.

Other awesome parts for me include the opening race, the end race (especially seeing

Doc looking fantastic as the Hudson Hornet (yes I love doc a lot)), Lightning finding out Doc’s secret, the part

with Mack & the hot rod cars on the interstate, the pixar spoofs, the Ferraris at Luigi’s, that epilogue

during the credits, i could probably go on but i think that’s enough

Heheh – my sister and I often like to “spoof up” really successful

and extremely horrible films…to the point that it gets ridiculous. Well, we “joke up”

Cars one day, and my sister did this hilarious impression of Lightning McQueen when

he discovered Doc’s three Piston cups. That’s probably why I started cracking up when I read your post…

lennonluvr9: I don’t blame you for going on and on. It’s a great

film!

Sorry but can someone explain the Jeremy Piven

thing. Thanks.

i’ve got a few

court scene : gotta love that

fart joke

scene when sally says : “You know , mater trusts you .” and then she goes on and on

and on

we find the truth about doc : not that big of a surprise , i easily figured this out before i even

saw the movie .

“Sh-boom” : who else agrees that is officially sally and lighning’s ‘song’ .

COME ON ! IT WAS SO CUTE !!!

Our town : it makes me cry also remindes me of my unoticed town i live

in

the credits scene : " it’s my hood ! I haven’t seen this thing for 20 years !" and then

they watch it fall . I need to find that that picture .
and then you find out doc was the king’s role model

part of movie i wanted to scream NO!!! : when mater interrupted that almost kiss . I now wish i could

smack mater . it’s been 5 months and i’m still mad about that !

Long story short: Pixar did a Shrek 2. That is to say, they replaced one or two

of the minor characters’ voice actors with a more locally known celebrity in the UK, to boost interest in the

film. While I think this was disastrous in Shrek 2 (Larry King became Jonathan Ross as the Ugly Stepsister, and

Joan Rivers was replaced by Kate Thornton, despite the fact that the character was

supposed to be Joan Rivers. Both voices were subpar compared to the original,

anyway.), It worked rather well in Cars. In the US, he was played by Jeremy Piven,

and is the “default” voice for Harv. In the UK, they got Top Gear’s own

Jeremy Clarkson, a well known petrol head, to do it. This shows that anything Dreamworks can do, Pixar can do

better, for I prefer Clarkson over Piven. His voice just has that oily smarmy quality you’d get off a slightly

amoral agent.

What I was asking was whether Australia got Piven or Clarkson, for if they got Piven, my

ordering of the Australian DVD means I’ll miss out on Clarkson. :frowning:

Thanks for that RMS Oceanic.

That helped me out, I sorta thought it was that but

you hit it right on the head there.

I would guess the Australian one would have Piven then.

And how

funny, reaplacing Joan Rivers, even though, it was meant to be her. LOL

Yeah. I’ve heard both versions, an JR was so much bettern

than KT. I suppose one of the reasons it didn’t work, while Cars did, was that like

all CG Films, they animated Shrek 2 around how the original voice actors spoke. KT had to match the way she spoke

to the way JR was animated, and I don’t think she was succesful at all. Clarkson didn’t have to worry since

Harv is never seen onscreen, so he can speak whatever way he likes, to good effect.
