OK, since this is the Finn/Holley thread I think this is the only place I can say this without being flamed. The Mater/Holley pairing is not legitimate. I already explained this to another member actually, but if you watch some of the commentary for Cars 2, John talks about how the whole ‘girlfriend’ bit at the end was only added after a showing where a woman who is a big fan of Mater commented that he should have a girlfriend. That’s when they decided to add it. It was by no means originally intended to be an actually serious pairing. So I believe that the whole thing with Holley calling herself his girlfriend does not makie it a ‘canon’ pairing. End. 
Hard to say. When I wrote my one-shot I pegged them as around 7 years apart. I’m thinking they are much futher apart than that though. People always classify Holley as being rather young, but I imagine her to be slightly older, at least 25. Then with Finn, judging his physical abilities, I’d like to think he is early 40’s. That would make them nearly 20 years apart. Which I guess is a bit wild, considering he could be around the age of her father but they are one of the few couples that I can grant the age difference to. Especially since we don’t know where cars come from. If they don’t come from a live birth, then what does the age really matter? Plus, there is no more age difference between her and Finn as there is with her and Mater, so it shouldn’t be an arguing point.

Exactly how I feel about the age difference. I don’t usually root for relationships like that but you know, it’s different for the reasons that you mostly mentioned.

One of my reviewers to my story told me that, and I wasn’t sure if it was legit or not, but now that I’ve gotten a second opinion, I certaintly believe it now.
I’d like to hunt that women down and ask "Why?! Why would you even suggest that?! You wicked lady. 
" It makes me really angry that Pixar actually listened to her too 
If not for this, there would be so much more room for Finn/Holley to grow without someone schreeching out “NO You can’t do that, Mater/Holley are CANON!” Not cool dudes.
Mater is actually 54 if you catch the passport in the credits, I see Finn in his 40’s, so Mater is actually older than Holley than Finn
I agree, this is about the only pairing I am wild about, or even tolerate with this much age difference, I’m usually pretty picky about it, but Finn and Holley are a loved exception [/size]
