Not sure if I ever read the original Little Mermaid. Pretty sure I didn’t. I know I did’t read The Snow Queen
The originals are mostly quite different to the Disney adaptations.
Yep. Most adaptations are different then the original story or source.
I have a book from my childhood that’s filled with Hans Christian Anderson stories with classic illustrations, including most of the ones named on this page (except, ironically, “The Snow Queen”). My favorite has always been “The Tinderbox,” which I sadly rarely hear people discuss.

Yes, originals were way darker.
The Disney adaptations try to make them as family friendly as possible while trying to get dark moments across in their films.
and Disney’s Hunchback is more dark then most Disney films.
Yeah. Like I said, they’ll try to throw some kids stuff in the mix, ala the gargoyles.
Well I don’t know how dark the original sotry is because I didn’t know it existed untill Disney talked about it. If it’s dark then theu may add something like the gargoyles in.

No. I mean the Snow Queen. 
I know Hunchback’s end kinda because I’be seen other movie versions. Like the 1923 version.
I heard that Disney was inspired by the 1939 version for Hunchback for some suggestions for the film. Particularly, having Frollo being a priest.
Except in the Disney version, Frollo has always being a priest. In fact, he an the archdeacon are one and the same.
But back to the Frozen topic.
First, I changed the thread title to reflect the new name of the film.
Then, we got an announcement: Kristen Bell will voice the main character in Frozen. This is great news for me, because as I’ve shared before, I think she has one of the best voices out there and I wanted her to be in a major animated film.
I’m not sure if she’ll voice Gerda or the Snow Queen herself. I think she can work well both ways, since he voice can be either innocent or very seductive.
Also, if the characters designs look anything like her, this should be a gorgeous film 
It’s so awesome that Kristen Bell will voice the main character. I think she’s so cute and I agree with you SoA about her having one of the best voices. I didn’t realize that until Gossip Girl started. When I use to watch Veronica Mars I use to think she was cute no matter what was going on in the show. I remember gasping when I saw her in Scream 4. She was the only good thing about that movie IMO. I can’t wait to hear what he singing voice sounds like.
She has singed in the past, so we know she can do it.
YES!! Frozen is back in production and Kristen Bell is voicing the main character! I think she’ll be great, she can play the balance between the sweet vs. dark character well. And like what others already said, she can sing! 
I’m not familier with Kristen Bell.
