Guess what? an S3!

Cool news even know I don’t really like the

Shrek movies.

Okay, now they are

making too much. I am starting to think these movies will take a huge tumble down. Expectations rise with every

new sequel.

I thought we already knew

this, or has it just been confirmed? And what about Puss in Boots?

Will Puss n’ Boots just feature

his own adventure all by himself with little shrek referces?

You must be kidding me! Puss in Boots in his own

film? Seriously?

It’s not just the two additional sequels and the Puss in Boots movie. There’s also a

Christmas special and a Broadway Show in the works. Dreamworks has become the very thing they set out to make fun

of: Eisner era Disney.
I find it even more ironic now considering Disney’s finally put a stop to DTV sequels

and Dreamworks is just continuing to churn them out…

Okay,

that’s it. now they are really going overboard with this. I swear, the more they make, the less fun and more

stupider they will get. It is like Shrek is trying to become the next Mickey Mouse.

I agree:

DreamWorks should really slow down for a second here. Instead of churning out sequel

after sequel, why don’t they just create something original for a change? Although, I guess that’s like asking

Pixar to make a film that bombs. I guess… :unamused:

Haha – that is a clever way to put

it.

Thanks Mitch. But i get this odd

feeling that The Shrek fanbase is probably expanding way too fast. Shrek 3 didn’t really meet up with

everyone’s expectations, so they now have to make up for it.

Okay, saw it yesterday, and apart from thinking it was a general load of rubbish, a few things got to me.

[spoil]Firstly, there was that whole fuss made in the film about how characters have a choice if they want to be villains or not, and that there are two sides to the story, and so therefore a villain shouldn’t be punished without being given another chance and perhaps some help and compassion yet, despite this, Dreamworks STILL went for a ‘let’s teach the villain what’s what!’ ending by defeating Prince Charming! Gah!

Secondly, who else wanted Arty to shut up? His big, annoying, fake speeches grew tiresome very quickly. And his resemblance to Prince Charming was uncanny. And he was just annoying. So annoying. screams into pillow

And the ending? WTF? It’s like, the whole play thing finishes then poof, they’ve suddenly got triplets! Wahey! Where do they think they’re gonna go after this ending, as well? I mean, there’s gonna be a Shrek 4 AND 5? I have a bad feeling that the storylines are gonna continue going downhill at an increasing rate.
[/spoil]

I gave it a chance, hoping that Dreamworks might at least make a film worth paying five bucks to see, but I guess that isn’t the case. Again.

lizardgirl - Well, what do you expect from a DreamWorks film? This is why I only see their films in theaters once nowadays. :stuck_out_tongue:

[spoil]Yeah, Artie was…something else. The only time I really felt for the guy was during the whole “bird falls off the nest” sequence (which hit the mark in a rather cheesey kind of way), and where he was crowned king (which was probably the only moment in the film where I actually smiled due to satisfaction).[/spoil]

Seriously though, the studio itself had better get their act together before they really tumble down the hill and into the ocean. Actually, I take that back. They’ve already hit the ocean; they just haven’t sunk to the bottom yet. :unamused:

And even that’s pretty generous. I think it’s safe to say that DW is drowning in the ocean. But they seem to like it that way. Eventually their name is going to be synonymous with cruddy storylines, and people just won’t go and see their films any more.

Just as Pixar is cementing their place as great storytellers, DW are doing the opposite for the case of a quick buck. It’s quite sad that they don’t care about their reputation.

rachel - Exactly. Unless they somehow, miraculously get their act back together and resurface from the death pit, I don’t see how they’ll get get up to par as far as film-making goes. If the only reputation they want is to be known for slashing/ripping off old, redundant jokes and pop references, so be it.

It’s a shame, really. I would love to look up to other companies – besides Pixar – for decent and adequate film story-lines, but there just doesn’t seem to be many (if any at all) out there that fit that description. 'Tis a crime shame…

I’ve talked to other people about Shrek The Third, and they’ve been saying the same thing- and these are people that pretty much don’t know anything about the companies behind the films; they just watch them and take the films as they are without considering who created them. And even these people are saying that Shrek has gone downhill, and so they therefore associate Dreamworks with bad storylines and undeveloped characters.
