Yep.

Definitely-
British
German
Austrian
Slovenian
Probably-
Irish
Scottish
Welsh
Russian
Hungarian
other Eastern European/Slovak countries
Definitely not-
Italian
Spanish
French
Asian
My mother has done a lot of research with the help of her cousin on their geneology. Iām not totally certain if weāre related to anyone famous, but my mom feels we must be related or connected somehow to William the Conqueror. Her fatherās family was mostly English and in every generation there has been someone named William.
Other tidbits: My momās fatherās family fought on the British side during the American Revolution, and she knows of a distant cousin who was in the Civil War.
So sweet. I love the American Revolution, and I wish I could say I know I have a relative who fought in it (even if for the Redcoats!)
By the way, do you know if your distant cousin fought for the Confederacy or the Union?
He was on the Union side, in some Ohio regiment. Unfortunately I think he died during the war.
I found out today that the Proclaimers might be distant relatives of mine.
Please excuse my ignorance, but who are the Proclaimers?
E-J-E- They are a Scottish band, thereās two of them, theyāre brothers.
Ever heard the song 500 Miles? Thatās them.
Hmm. I seem to be the only person of black descent here. Iām mostly black, with a smidge of English and Native American blood in me. However due to circumstances that are obviously beyond my control, my heritage is rather murky if you try to go before about 120+ years ago.
So, Iāve stopped trying to classify my heritage and simply claim that Iām American. 100% American.
Despite my last name I have no famous or important relations of any kind that I can think of.
rock-itpop: No, I canāt say Iāve heard that song!
aerostarmonk: That is interesting, just like how Iām the only one of Latino descent, and thedriveintheater is the only one of Asian descent.
And I agree with you on the āAmericanā thing. I first and formost qualify myself as a proud, proud American. 'Merica.
e-j-e, youāve seriously never heard 500 Miles?
Oh, I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more just to be the man who walked 1000 miles to fall down at your door. Da da lat da?
This needs to be rectified immediately. youtube.com/watch?v=tbNlMtqrYS0
Iām related to the creator of a comic called Dark Chyld. His name is Randy Queen. In fact, heās my cousin.
Momās side: Puerto Rican*, German, and some Scottish
Dadās side: Slovakian (the āpurestā part of meāone grandparent born there), Irish, and some French-Canadian
*Though you would never guess it by looking at me or my mother or any of her six siblings. My grandma (half Puerto Rican) was raised with her brother and sister in orphanages in New York City, so the culture was sort of lost. Sheās been to the country and seems interested in it, but I donāt think she knows how to speak Spanish or anything like that.
Famous relatives: Nada. There are some documents of my family tree (momās side) which date back to a dude named John Loveland who fought in the Revolutionary War.
Also, I like that song.
My dadās cousin owned Rowntreeās and now owns Mars/Galaxy
If you donāt mind me asking, whatās Rowntrees?
One of the largest confectionery companies in the UK.
So my Grandma recently passed away.
She left me all the family pictures and family trees. Now I can trace my family back to 1820.
Long story short, My family was German. They migrated to Russia, where they were allowed to keep their language and relgion as long as the farmed. However, time changed and there was perjudice against Germans. The Russians started drafting them and forcing them to learn Russian. So my family moved to the Untied States.
Good thing they did! Because came WWII, and following that many Germans in Russia were sent to camps in Sibera by Stalin.

Also, on my momās family, my Grandpaās family were bootleggers and involved in the Italian Mafia in San Francisco.
I donāt donāt how my family came to America. Never really asked.
I donāt know what percents of things I am, but I consider myself Scottish and Norwegian the most because of my last name and traditions, but Iām other things too, like German, Swedish, Danish, and Irish.
Iām Irish, pretty much all the way. My great-grandparents came from Ireland, and Iām a little French and German (maybe?) I think
