How To Raise A Racecar

daaaaaaaaannnnn… Lol very long and look a cliffhanger! :open_mouth: Uncle Bubba??? Honestly I did not see that coming. Wow. Just wow. Another great chapter! Extremely awesome! Im in love with this story!

A wedding can’t even be happy for Lightning. :frowning:

Glad you enjoy it so much!

I started getting kinda wierded when he started talking about out there there are other cars. Im like is he an alien? Oh no just star-craving mad lol everyone knows cars can talk. I talk to our cars all the time. WHOLE FORUMS GOES INTO AKWARD PAUSE LOL

The whole thing behind that; Bubba is talking about our universe. He isn’t an alien, no. But the idea of a universe of cars with no eyes, mouths, or souls is basically a myth in their Cars universe. He was just talking about that to Lightning because he had no idea how to get out the fact that he killed his father, but then he snapped into evil mode once again.

The chapter where Sally is hanging over the edge of a cliff and Bubba says, “I need to talk to you.” or “I need to tell you something.” is that he killed his father.

Don’t worry, soon, Bubba will get what’s coming to him.

May the hand of justice be put opon those who have done wrong. Lol gosh you made it sooooo suspenseful. Why??? Lol ugh i can’t wait to see what happens!

I’ll make the next chapter shorter of course. This one is long because I worked on it for so long.

:open_mouth: That was intense. I love how you wrote the wedding scene, it was very heartfelt. I liked the cliffhanger ending too. I’m super glad you didn’t abandon the sotry. Keep up the good work

I’ll be sure to keep it running strong!

Glad you liked the wedding!

yeah very discriptive too. Yeah it took me 2 cups of coffee to read the whole thing. Lol

I just read the whole story in one shot.

Lets just say,

  1. It’s long!
  2. I love it!!!

Thank you! I need to read yours as well.

Hey sweetie, I just read the new chapter. It’s awesome!!! I would say “awesome as usual” but that wouldn’t be true because it’s definitely my favorite chapter so far. Once again, your attention to details and how they would be reflected in the car world is amazing! I loved how, instead of dressing up, they got new paint jobs, and how Sally says, “On the other tire”. Only you would catch the little things like that! :stuck_out_tongue:

I must say though, even though you warned me before, that chapter was intense! :open_mouth: I thought the shocking part was going to be when Lightning said “No” (and trust me, I was about to punch out my computer screen just then) but then the cliffhanger really got me from out of nowhere! Aw, and I was just starting to think that Bubba wasn’t all that bad! Now it looks like he’s back on #1 of my hitlist. :imp:

Oh, and you know that one Audi? Yeah, the one whose name is Jessica and plays a guitar. That really rings a bell, like I swear I know someone really similar in real life, but I just can’t place it… Jeez, what was it? I really should know this…

Oh yeah! One of my friends drives an Audi! ;-p

It’s so fun playing with the Cars world and changing up the language making it fit for the cars.
Of course Lightning would never say no to Sally! :stuck_out_tongue:
Yes! I made a cameo! :stuck_out_tongue: I almost put you in it too baby!

~Chapter 14~
Bubba was hanging Lightning over the edge of the canyon; The same way he did with Sally. Lightning stared down at his death.
“Bubba…B-Bubba…please. I…what did I do?”, Lightning asked. Bubba thought that question was hilarious. He let out his famous evil laugh.
“Nothing!”, Bubba teased. “That’s what makes me a murderer.”
“Bubba PLEASE! I just got married! PLEASE!”
“You need to give me a better reason than THAT.”
Lightning’s mind was racing.
“How do you get inside the mind of a murderer?”, Lightning thought. “What do I say to him?”
“I’M WAITING!”
“I…I-I…I have a baby!”
“That? Haha…THAT?”
“Y-Yes…? Bubba…please…I…need her. She needs me…I know…”
“You don’t know that she needs you-”
“YES I DO!”
“HOW, LIGHTNING?”
“BECAUSE YOU TOOK MY FATHER AWAY FROM ME!”
Lightning’s voice rolled through the canyons. Bubba didn’t move.
“Fine. You want your daddy back-”
“No don’t! Don’t-”
Bubba swung his hook around. Lightning watch as the world swayed from side to side.
“NO BUBBA-”
“YOU’LL SEE YOUR DADDY!”
Bubba let Lightning go and he started to free fall over the edge. Lightning screamed at the top of his voice. The warm desert air flew in his face. The ground grew closer and closer, then nothing. Just the sound of crushed metal and the smell of leaking gasoline mixed with motor oil.
Bubba admired his work with a small smile cracked on his bumper. He gathered spit at the back of his throat and spat it out over the edge. He watched it travel down and hit Lightning’s body.
“Make sure you tell daddy I said ‘Hi’.”

Three hours later, all of the guests went home from the wedding. Midge, Sally, and Flo were parked at Flo’s. Sally was trying to calm down.
“What if he left me?”, Sally asked. “Why doesn’t he love me!?” Sally broke down in tears.
“Where could he be?”, Flo sighed. Jane whimpered. Midge was rubbing Sally’s fender softly with her tire.
“Darling, I know Lightning. He never once left a woman like this. He respects women.”, explained Midge. Sally wouldn’t believe it.
“That’s such a lie. Maybe not to her, but it’s a lie. If a man sees a woman, he will drive circles around her until she gives in, or until she hits him. Sure, he may respect women by not hitting them, but he’s very famous. He’s had many girlfriends. Many girlfriends. This scares me…but, me? Me? She’s right. Lightning would never do this to me. He wanted to marry me, after all.”, Sally thought. “And he’s my husband now.”
Jane whimpered some more. Sally looked at her.
“It’s okay, Jane.”, Sally assured. “Daddy is on his way home.”
Jane’s innocence made her believe her mother. Doc was speeding from Tailfin Pass.
“Hey! HEY!”, he yelled. The women turned their hoods.
“What happened, Doc?”, asked Flo. “Why you so tired?”
Doc was out of breath.
“It’s…Lightning…he…he’s…we…come on!”
Doc turned back around and sped with the women who were now close behind him. Jane recognized ‘Lightning’ was her father’s name so she sped too. No, she didn’t speed; She raced. Jane went faster than the Hudson Hornet. Jane went faster than Flo and her mother. Jane was flying. Flashing police lights filled the foggy mist.
“Hey Sheriff!”, called Doc. “How is-”
Sheriff just shook his hood.
Doc was silent.
“Lightning?”, Sally called. She saw his body. Lightning was on the ground with all of his tires spread out in a pool of his gasoline and oil. Sally stared in horror.
“LIGHTNING! Baby! Baby wake up!”, Sally drove to him and started nudging him. He didn’t move. Lightning was covered in dents and dirt was jammed in all parts of his body. His eyes were closed and his mouth hung open. Sally pulled away. Tears formed in her eyes.
“Lightning…?”, she said, choked up. “C-Come on, baby, stop it…s-stop playing…” Sheriff drove to Sally and leaned on her to comfort her. Sally started to cry. Lightning just stayed on the ground. He didn’t move once. Doc put his tire under Lightning’s undercarriage.
“He’s unconscious…”, said Doc. Sally let out a sigh of relief.
“We need to get him to the emergency room.”, said Flo. “Now.”

After a few minutes an ambulance came and took Lightning away to the emergency room; Doc’s clinic in Radiator Springs. Lightning was then taken out of the ambulance and put into a room. Sally told Flo and Midge to go to bed, but Midge insisted to stay. Flo, thought it would be best if she didn’t stay. Jane was with Sally.
“We got him to open his eyes in the ambulance.”, said Doc.
“That’s great!”, yelled Sally and Midge, at the same time. Doc turned to Lightning.
“Hey…”, he said softly. “Wake up.”
Lightning opened his eyes to just slits. He couldn’t open them anymore than that; His eyes were too swollen. Sally frowned.
“Baby…”, she whispered. Lightning’s eyes rolled to Sally. He forced himself the smile, though it hurt.
“Sa…Sal…S-Sally…”, said Lightning. Sally drove closer to hear him better.
“Yes?”, asked Sally.
“I…I loved…loved…l-loved you so much…”, replied Lightning. Sally gulped.
Loved?”, she asked. Lightning nodded.
“Y-Yeah…”, said Lightning with a very low and hoarse voice. “I…I won’t make it out of this room tonight. I just can’t-
“Don’t you say that…don’t SAY THAT!”
Lightning just stared at Sally for a few minutes.
“Sally…Sally…it’s okay-”
“NO it’s NOT!”
“Sw-Sweetheart…”
“Lightning!”, Sally started to cry. She nuzzled her face against his.
Lightning sung softly, “L-Life…could be a…dr-dream…if I co-could…take you up in…p-paradise up above…if-if you would tell me…I’m…the only one that…you love…my life became a dream…sweetheart…”
Sally stopped crying and looked at Lightning. She sniffled.
“Lightning…I love you.”, said Sally. “I know I don’t say it enough…” Lightning nodded slowly.
“I l-love…you too…”, Lightning started. He leaned over to Sally, barely able to move and whispered, “F-For infinity…and beyond…”
Sally nodded and backed away. Jane caught Lightning’s eye. She was parked behind Sally. She was shocked to see her father all broken.
“Ja-Jane…”, Lightning said. Sally nudged Jane, letting her know that it was okay to drive forward and go over to Lightning. Jane slowly drove to her father. She looked into his eyes. She listened.
“Jane…I…I need you to know something…I need you to know it…now…before time goes on anymore…daddy had no daddy growing up…and…I…”, Lightning tried his best to hold back his tears. You started to hear that he was about to cry in his voice. “I…don’t think daddy is…going…to be here much longer for you…”
Jane drove closer to Lightning.
“Jane…”, Lightning continued. “I…I never heard my daddy tell me he loved me…so…I want…I want you to promise me…that you know I loved you, my little star. Because…daddy…daddy loves you so much…
The pressure from tears behind Lightning’s eyes was unbearable and started to cry. After a few moments he tried to control himself better.
“No. Lightning, stop.”, he thought. “You can’t cry now. Don’t show Jane you cry.”
He continued to talk to Jane, “Jane…I want you to know…that I tried…I tried so hard…but everyone was right. Racecars don’t have the greatest parents…but…I would have been an…amazing one. I want you to know that. I was so prepared…to be…to be a father…to raise you…my little star…my daughter…my life…I would have…I would have been there for you…when that guy never called you back…when your friends said something mean to you…your first day of high school…your graduation…I would have seen you be a success…I would have heard your first words…I would have done it all…but I…can’t…”
Midge, Lightning’s mother, drove to him.
“Lightning, don’t leave me again…please…?”, said Midge. Lightning looked up at his mother.
“Mommy…if I could stop it-”
Daddy?”, asked a little sobbing voice. “D-Da-da?” Lightning opened his eyes a little wider, though it still hurt. He looked at Jane. She blinked a few times and tears ran down her hood.
She opened her mouth to talk again, “Daddy…no go…
Sally drove to Jane and smiled wide.
Lightning was in awe, “I waited so long to finally hear…to finally hear your voice.”
Daddy!”, Jane yelled. “No go!!” Lightning looked at Jane with sorry eyes. He blinked a few times.
“I’m Lightning McQueen. I can handle anything.”, thought Lightning. “I’m not letting Bubba take me away. I’m NOT.” Lightning shook his head.
“No, Jane…”, said Lightning. “Daddy won’t go.” Jane started to bounce and jump in happiness.
Lightning looked at Sally who was watching him back. She was smiling.
“Thank you…”, Sally mouthed. Lightning nodded. He looked back to Jane.
“As long as the stars are glued to the sky, as long as I’m alive, as long as the Earth keeps spinning, I will watch you grow.”, he said. “My little starJane Taylor…I will watch you glisten and show the world how bright you are.” Jane leaned up to Lightning with a smile on her face. She puckered her lips and gently kissed her father’s lips.
Sheriff drove in.
“Has anyone seen, Mater? Oh, Lightning!”, said Sheriff. “How ya feelin’?”
Lightning nodded.
“That’s good.”, said Sheriff. He smiled. “But anyway, has anyone seen Mater?”
“He’s lost?”, asked Doc. Sheriff shook his head.
“I was talking to him; telling him about Lightning.”, said Sheriff. “Then he just sped off to ornament valley.”
Lightning heard this and it caught his attention.
“Mater…no…”, thought Lightning. “No…no…”

is it okay if I said (and did) I started to tear up? (almost cried aswell) when Lightning was talking to Jane and said he wouldn’t go. Really great chapter! Stupid Bubba. I hope Mater is okay. Great chapter and great story. I usaully don’t read fanfic stories just becuase I hate reading stories based off others ideas of stories, it makes them feel like they have a certain guidline to follow and can’t make it what they wan’t. But your story seems like it fits somehow. And that you still do what you wan’t and it still fits is so awesome! So kudos to you being one of few I read!

Yes it’s fine that you teared up. Glad you like my story so much!

I get so teary when I see or read that kinda stuff.

Like I said before, then you’d hate to see what I would have put in. :frowning:

probably so. But I do love a good bit. Anyways really good story!
