How to Train Your Dragon

That’s just my opinion. I think HTTYD is unoriginal and bland story-wise. But Up is simple in a good way. It has characters with real feelings instead of stereotypical characters with fake emotions.

Fake emotions… I’m a very sentimental person, very sensitive for emotions and moods and everything, and I didn’t catch any fake emotions…

I think someone is afraid to admit Dreamworks made a movie up to ‘Pixar standards’. :stuck_out_tongue:

I also think it’s funny that your favorite Pixar movie seems to be ‘Cars’… Real emotions, right?

Well, whatever. Opinions are opinions. You can go ahead and choose to forgo everything we’ve pointed out, hold onto your opinion, and miss out on all the great things about this movie if you want.

@TAMATER, sorry for dissing you mate… I guess the fact you have the right to ‘express your opinion’ also gives me the right to do so. But yeah… Choice of words has never been one of my best qualities.

I guess some movies/genres just don’t appeal to people… And if it’s actually what I said earlier (not liking it just because it’s from Dreamworks) well, that’s understandable as well… Wrong, but understandable. I’ve been feeling the same way about any Dreamworks movie before I saw HTTYD. I’ve seen… pretty much all of them (even the traditional ones) and Kung Fu Panda and Dragon have been the only ones that stood out for me. The rest was… well, bad. :stuck_out_tongue:

Let’s hope they show their good side more often in the future.

Also:

<3333 XD

Pffff I saw that on dA today and it made me lol.

Definitely an insta-fave. The way the artist drew them is so cute and funny at the same time!

I wish I could get my HtTYD fanart to look as appealing and interesting as some of the stuff I see everyday… :frowning:

Exactly, and that’s why you don’t see any threads on this forum devoted to arguing about, say- Shrek the Third. :stuck_out_tongue:

In my most humble opinion, I think there was a greater depth of honesty with HTTYD than I have ever seen from a Dreamworks production. It is even on parr with Up in some respects, I would argue. But as Czarine said, you’re entitled to your opinion, and you did raise some aspects I’ve agreed with (like the rate of progression of one or two characters’ development).

little_chef: Totally agree with you on all counts!

Czarine: Haha, I faved that too. Seriously, the ‘Dragon’ folder in my Faves must be the biggest one in my dA account!

Chuckles: I think we can safely say there is an unequivocal consent on Shrek the Third’s ‘badness’. XD

Yep, it’s safe to say that sucked, to say the least… :l

Well if it makes you feel any better, I think you make the most funny and beautiful HTTYD fanart, like seriously I stalk your DA everyday xDD

So I couldn’t wait for the DVD release and just watched it again online, I gotta say that I think it’s even better than the first two times I saw it xDD As soon as it was over I bought the art of book, sheets for my bed, and pre-ordered the DVD. I’m also making a fan video as we speak. I think I can now say I’m pretty obsessed.

You are not alone, woody.

More amazing DA stuff:

The artist describes it as “just a little drawing…”. :open_mouth:

Sorry for triple posting but I GOT THE DVD!

YAYS!!! Are there a buttload of amazifying features?

WHHATTTT!?!? I wish I could draw like that O___O

No Wayz! do tell!

It’s still downloading

But I’ve seen small parts of video that were already downloaded and it’s high quality!

EDIT: I just watched through the filelist… No signs of any special features whatsoever. :frowning: Maybe this is just a leaked demo/screening DVD or something… Not the ‘actual’ DVD product.

darn. you got me all excited :frowning: I don’t know if I can wait until October to actually get my hands on some bonus features. I just want to know so much about the making of the film right now it’s driving me insane. :shake:

I haven’t really delved into the fandom very much- does anyone know of any particulary good fanfictions to read? Granted I could see the difficulty in writing them without it being simply ‘shippy’ things, which are nice but can get a bit much, rather like Finding Nemo the overall story arc was pretty much perfect and it can be hard to find openings. Or at least openings for a very long story.

Which is kind of why I don’t want either of them to have a sequel. I mean I’m not sure what they’d do with it at all.

But regardless, anyone have any particulary good fanfics they could link us all and we devour like the crazy dragon fans we are? I don’t mind shippy stuff but something else would be good too.

Um.

I wrote one.

It doesn’t involve any shipping, in fact it’s sort of like a backstory.

I don’t like self-promotion, but if you wanna take a read, I’ve got up to Chapter 5 posted here. C8

little chef

Thank-you! I’ll get on it soon.
