iPhone

Gasduude- I’d like to think that they’d lower it, since it is so expensive, but this is Apple we’re talking about, and their prices are generally pretty high.

Yeah, 8 gigs is hardly enough for me…I’ve almost filled my 30 G as it is! :stuck_out_tongue:

They may not lower the price but they’ll probably come out with something new in 3 months so the iPhone ver. 1 will be outdated.

No you see, the iPhone is not really like the iPod in that it is automatically outdated. As long as the hardware stays, its very easy for apple to update the iPhone. I just read that there is a slew of updates coming between now and Leopards release in October that will fix most of the issues and add features like custom ringtones, ichat, possibly flash support etc.

When it’s time for new hardware, yes the iPhone will be outdated, but until then, on the software side, that’s as easy as free firmware updates for your iPhone through iTunes like they currently do with the iPod. I can imagine if Apple released a new version in 3 months time there would be a lot of unhappy customers.

Yes, that’s true. They usually are more expensive than similar products; however, if you remember the iPod Photo, it was priced at 600$ too. On the second generation they bumped the price down 150$ or so…I hope that happens here!

This is sad. I just saw a couple commercials about the product last night. Now, all of the sudden, i want it. :unamused:

I’m feeling that same craving, TSS…very slick!

a lot of you are complaining that you are only getting only 8gb for $600. it’s a PHONE too. There are a lot of components that make up a phone and the iPhone runs of flash memory, not a HDD like video iPods. You basically get a nano with a phone and and the internet in your pocket. I think $600 is fairly reasonable. When flash becomes cheaper and I know one company has just developed 16GB of memory in a 8GB size piece, so you will in the future see 16gb iPhones, Nano’s and even possibly in the not too distant future, 30GB nanos. Your not meant to put your whole library on your iPhone, just a few playlists is probably all you need.

bawpcwpn - Yep, exactly. The iPhone is creating alot of buzz I think because it’s the first phone from Apple; AT&T is the phone provider; and that’s its name: the iPhone. People just naturally asumme it’s just and only a phone…

Yeah - definitely had to go out and buy me a new cell phone (the Samsung SYNC Red) to play with so I wouldn’t be aching so much over the fact that I can’t afford the iPhone LOL.

$600 isn’t so bad, but £1000 is. Because it was made in America, I think you automatically get it cheaper there, but here there’s like a massive percentage mark-up like there is with pretty much all technology. To put it into perspective, buying an iPhone is the same price as me and my mum going on holiday to Madeira for a week. I mean, I got 30 gigs with my Creative Zen Vision for nearly £200, and that’s a fifth of the cost of the iPhone. But, hopefully the prices might come down a little bit in the future- we’ll just have to wait and see.

Does anybody got an iPhone yet?

I’d have to travel a couple hundred miles to find one, but even then, we don’t have an AT&T service up here, so there’s no point… :imp:

nope, but I am stil a happy person.
