Personally, it annoys me when a sequel has a different director from the original. It changes the style.
Oh I too have no problem with John taking over Cars 2, it’s the rest of Disney like I stated that I’m worried about. Pixar has consistently shown to have a great a very high level of expertise so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt as always. Disney Animation and their theme parks, in recent events, have not. Until John Lasseter and Ed Catmull took over, they were really faltering (Home On The Range, Chicken Little, the original California Adventure) so I’m just concerned about how well they can really do without John Lasseter.
By having Lasseter take over for director, if this is true, tells me two things. 1) That PIXAR must have really been experiencing some major problems that they have to pull one of the highest senior execs back to the director’s chair and/or 2) John Lasseter thinks PIXAR is the most important aspect of Disney.
