Thank you muchly people! Let’s hope my prof agrees, since I havent been graded on this yet, and I really dont understand how he grades ![]()
Yay! My first Pixar drawing in almost a year! Unfortunately, it’s not new, it’s just an updated improvement on a previous one. I wanted to redo my original King drawing:

Those are gorgeous! Excellent shading, you have a real gift! Keep it coming!
That’s cool that you can actually be bothered to go back and update old works, lennonluvr9. I always say I’ll do that and I never do.
I love the shading on this one, it’s got so much depth, and the lineart is spot on as always. ![]()
Thanks guys! Glad you like it! ![]()
lizardgirl- lol, yeah well, it took me awhile to actually get around to it. There are probably a bunch I could redo and improve, but I dont usually ever look at my older pieces. But lately I have looked at a couple and have been like “ew, why did I ever think that looked good??” My old king one had been bothering me for a long time. I knew it was out of proportion and just never felt like correcting that till now.
Here’s another not-quite-new one that I just redid, an old one of Doc that definitely needed revising:

Whoah, very, very excellent work there lennonluvr. You have an impeccable talent for light and shading, keep up the good work! You should try to do a sunset or something, kinda like that paradise falls concept art for Up with the gang standing together on a rock in front of the falls. Could be Cars related too, with Lightning and Sally. I think you could really pull off a pic with some great lighting.
How long did that take you to draw? I’m gonna guess 8 hours or so
That drawing of Doc is ‘Hudson Hornet Fabulous’! You must have had a lot of practice! Did you take art classes or was it mostly self-learnt? Cos’ the lines, the reflective details (like the chrome bumpers, hubcaps, headlights, body panels), smudging, shading, everything is amazing. Very professional.
I’ll have a look at your other work, I think you’re a really talented Cars fan artist.
That’s my favourite concept art I’ve seen so far. ![]()
oh my goodness! That Doc Hudson picture absolutely blew me away! Keep up the Amazing work!
Wonderful drawing of Doc Hudson! I think I’ve said this before, but you are great at shading! Keep it up! ![]()
Thank you muchly everybody!
ffdude- My main focus here was just redoing what I had done before, hence, no background. It took me about 6 hours, maybe 7.
driveintheatre- I took art classes for 4 years in high school and I took a drawing class in college, but I’ll tell ya, I learned the most actually from this “How to draw real people” book i have. Sometimes those books dont really do much, but this one was very helpful. So I took what I learned from that book and just applied it to every piece of realism I do.
I remember the original one of the recently updated Doc piece, and I have to say that you’ve made some great improvements! The shading, as others have said, is great and it truly does look just like him. The only constructive criticism I can offer is that the wheel that’s turned and facing outwards in the centre of the piece doesn’t look perfectly round, as though it has a kink, but that’s a tiny detail and everything else is perfect. Great work, lennonluvr9! ![]()
really? looks yeah I see it now that it’s been pointed out to me
I’m not a big fan of that wheel either to be honest. Not cuz of the shape, but I dont like the way I shaded it. But as long as I dont focus on that and look at the drawing as a whole, it looks okay to me.
I sometimes have a tendency to just look at my mistakes.
Quite ironic, really, that the greatest teacher was a silent one.
May I have the name of author and a possible cover image? Sounds interesting to me. ![]()
yeah my actual art teachers were not always the most helpful or encouraging people I’ve dealt with.
I found on Amazon the exact book I have (I wasnt sure if I still had it or not! I havent looked at it in years…):

Of course I’ve adapted some of the author’s instructions to better suit my style and needs, but the basic ideas I mainly got from this.
Done a Pixar one for the first time in months. Another Doc Hudson.
This was of a scene I always had been wanting to draw, but I only got around to doing it now:
This one is another re-do that I probably should have done last year. In any case, here’s ‘the new, improved, Lightning McQueen’:
Oh my gosh that Lightning McQueen looks more realistic that the one in the movie!!!
I’m not sure if I’d go that far, but thanks! Glad you like it ![]()
Nice renderings, lennonluvr! I like your Cars fanart. I’m, like, “your biggest fan”! Kachow! xD
