The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (the animal version), and…
The.
Iron.
Giant.
WOO-HOO.
Those are some good ones you listed there daftks.
I liked a lot of those slightly older dog movies like, White Fang, Iron Will, Homeward Bound and The Incredible Journey (kinda the older version of Homeward Bound from the 60’s).
Also just to say, the Iron Giant was one of the best animated films ever! Great cell animation and late 50’s storyline.
ohhh
PERSEPOLIS
the entire film is done in this really graphic, black and white style. it’s so beautiful. it’s got a more mature storyline than your average animated pic, and looks at more current issues such as the war between iraq and iran. PLUS it’s bloody hilarious. watch it, watch it! if you check out reviews, it’s +++++
TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE
probably the strangest animated feature film i’ve seen, but it’s hilarious in a more european style it reminds me of wall-e a little, as there is hardly any speech in the entire film.
this part reminds me of the old school disney black and white animations!
also WALLACE AND GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERERABBIT
bloody hilarious, and very british ;p
the metropolis anime was pretty sweet, too.
hollietree : well, you have an extremely good taste
Persepolis and Triplets of Belleville are two of my favourite animated french movies, and Wallace and Gromit is even more awesome !
Since you and I seem to have similar taste when it comes to animated movies, may I suggest you another french film ? I haven’t seen it in a while but it’s a masterpiece. It’s called Le Roi et l’Oiseau.
And it’s an advice to everyone : if you get a chance to see this, don’t miss it.
why thank you, archibald. i am always on the lookout for new bits and pieces to inspire me.
the minute i get some cash i shall buy that, plus persepolis (for you UK kids, it’s now out on dvd!)
p.s. i totally swear i’m not part of the marketing team at sony, i do keep pushing this film ;p i got chatting to the staff at borders about it for about ten minutes, i must have scared them!
Edited for language. – Mitch
For mine, I refer you all to this thread:
Since Mitch already took care of it, I remove this post.
Sorry, but that really made me laugh- Mitch edited the post, and then bright dot-dasher quoted it so it came up again.
Yes, I find that sort of thing funny.
I’m really desperate to see Persepolis- it looks like something I’d enjoy.
See? I’m not the most uncontrollable guy here in terms of language!
I have an actual suggestion of a film for y’all here…
It’s called Doug’s First Movie!!!
I loved the series and it’s a really fun movie and it’s just so AWESOME that he came to the big screen. If you liked the show, you’re gonna love this movie.
Also, I think they should make a comeback of the great old show about a little green alien from the planet IRK with an “Invader ZIM” movie.
Sorry, but that really made me laugh- Mitch edited the post, and then bright dot-dasher quoted it so it came up again.
Yes, I find that sort of thing funny.
I would have left it, but I wasn’t entirely sure if it was allowed or not. If younger members didn’t visit the boards I probably wouldn’t have omitted it. (snigger)

Anyone here heard of Valiant? Also, there’s actually a Mulan 2. It’s just as good as the first one.
Valiant’s alright. The story never really captured me, but at the same time, I would have to say that it is a little underrated- the characters are likeable, and the animation is pretty good, too.
Valiant’s a pretty good movie, at least for me.
Balto, Iron Giant, Spirit, Chicken Run and Oliver and Company… hands down.
All dogs go to heaven has massive plot holes but is still decent.
Whisper of the Heart is a MUST-SEE for any Ghibli fan (even if you’ve just seen Spirited Away or Grave of the Fireflies). And, athough it’s certainly not an obscure movie, I feel that The Iron Giant deserves even more praise than it gets. What a gem.
I recommend The Brive Little Toaster…other then that…Jonah (A VeggieTales Movie)…man Jonah is good.
Just sat down and watched all of Persepolis. GENIUS! MAGNIFICENT FILMMAKING! 4 STARS!!!
The Tangerine bear was a good movie, that I grew up on.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire is one of Disney’s lesser known movies. I saw it and I couldn’t believe how underrated it was. It’s a wonderful movie. The beautiful scenery, the funny lines, the valuable message, and not to mention the native voices vocalizing at some parts in the background were beautiful. The only thing it lacks is great, memorable songs (or any songs, for that matter).
You may or may not have heard of this, but back when Walt Disney made short cartoons (totally unlike the spongebob-style type cartoons, if you know what I mean), they made their version of The Ugly Duckling. I just saw it last night, and I was surprised to find myself tearing up! I thought it would just be a cute little cartoon to watch…but it really made me cry! Poor little guy…yelled at on the day he was hatched…just because he’s different.
They didn’t talk at all, but their emotions were expressed very well…plus the music brought out the feelings of it, too.
The only reason why it’s lesser known is because it’s an older animation and plus, a lot of older Disney has been buried by modern Disney.
