It kinda irks me if I see or hear somebody talk bad stuff to Lou.
The only person who said anything “bad” about anything was Lou Romano badmouthing Pixar. How sad. Good riddance, as far as I’m concerned.
“There are no geniuses at Pixar.” John Lassiter, by way of Walt Disney.
Where was he “badmouthing” Pixar?
I’ve read all over this thread but haven’t seen it.
Yeah, that was a bit apprehensive of you. He never badmouthed them, he just supposedly pulled for KFP over Wall•E.
This stinks, man. Who will do Linguini in Ratatouille 2?
Kidding.
Here’s something pretty revealing about Lou leaving Pixar. (from his very own blog, no less)
Ouch, Lou.
Fett101: Wow. Lou seems to have a pretty strong opinion. I guess him leaving really wasn’t about Pixar itself…
LOU! What happened to YOU!
I actually have to agree with him on this to some degree. Disney’s turning into a conglomerate, not a creative mind. They have fallen way past their prime, and it’s a bit depressing. The fact that JL had to step in to even get them to start making real animated movies again is outright shameful, they should have never stepped out of that habit. That was their trademark, I can’t believe they’d be so ignorant to throw it out like they did. All Disney really consists of now are cheap live action teen dramas, corny, hyperactive cartoons based solely on crude humor, and one singularly kick-butt animated movie department, but that’s only because a visionary took over.
The new acquisition of Marvel has made me nervous, as I have said before. If Disney so much as TOUCHES one of their franchises and publicizes it, I will be outright furious with them.
I agree, but I can’t believe Lou did this. It’s kinda thought-provoking or something but…Lou? Man, he used to be my hero…
I actually somewhat agree with him. Disney is a HUGE cooperation after all. They were just recently milking every franchise they had with direct to DVD movies with no mind for any creative ramifications. But in my mind, Pixar is the medicine that’s supposed to correct that. Maybe the Pixar sequelitis is a sign that it’s not working. All we can do is wait for these movies to come out and see.
The link doesnt work?
I want to know more XD what happened? This is really offsetting.
The link is broken for me too. Wonder if someone asked him to take it down.
Unfortunately, the link was broken too, but thank God I saw everything yesterday. It’s so upsetting. Seriously.
There is a comment on the Marvel takevoer at Cartoonbrew that appears to be by Lou Romano.
Considering the now dead link contains the word “marvelous”, this is probably related…
That’s a panel from the comic which was taken down.
Well, what did it say?! I didn’t have the chance to read it!
Here’s the Google Cache: 74.125.153.132/search?q=cache:Vn … =firefox-a
And here’s a tinypic link just in case the above goes down: i32.tinypic.com/ju79g6.jpg
Warning: the Lou Romano panel contains a swear word.
I wonder what went down at Pixar for Lou to say that, but it is a pretty sharp observation…
Oh, that’s genius rachel! (or maybe I’m stupid)
I didn’t think of putting cache! Nice one rachel!
Woah, so Lou Ramona is the one that rigged The Annies, eh? And all this time I’d been blaming Dreamworks. Bad Lou!
(ETA: Gotta say that Disney+Marvel comic linked to is ultra lame. Anyone who knows the Disney Pixar deal (or just about any of their other acquisitions) knows they also know how to stay the heck out of the way. No “Marvel Princesses” are going to result.)
And yes, Disney is a conglomerate and not a creative mind. They’ve become the business end of the deal. But so what? If they slap their name on things and still let real artists do the real work and release works of art, so what if there’s a Disney logo at the beginning? Remember how everyone reacted when Disney bought Pixar? “Oh noes, it’s the end of the world, Pixar will suck now 'cause they’ll make them take out all the subsersiveness and it will all be sugar plums and fairy tales!” Guess what? They made arguably their three least conventional, most subversive, and by far most artistic films in these past three, all under the Disney name. Let the Marvel deal actually happen before you start complaining, otherwise you’ll be looking like a fool, just like those who whined about the Disney Pixar deal do now. Disney provides one thing that true artists often don’t have: money. Bring on the cashflow, and let Marvel take more risks, if they provide the same deal Pixar got to Marvel then this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, not the end of Marvel.
