Meet the Robinsons

CarFreak - No problem!

I am not sure if theis was asked before, but

if you can have one of the futuristic inventions in Robinsons, what would it be?

TSS - The time machine, duh!

It would be very useful to do certain

things… Like going to June 29th! :stuck_out_tongue:

The Star Swordsman - Haha – what

Maggie said…

I would like to have that memory thingy. I would love to go back and review all of the

good times I have ever had.

The

Star Swordsman - Oh yes – the Memory Scanner would be a wonderful do-hickey to own, as well. Good

choice.

Thanks, although, I think it would also be nice to have my little own Doris Hat

just for a tiny sidekick.

As long as it, you know, didn’t try to take over your mind

and use you as a pawn to further its agenda of world domination, right?
Personally, I’d probably go for a

Memory Scanner as well. If you could find some way to actually record scanned memories, definitely makes home

videos easier. And possibly with tweakage, one could actually scan dreams…

Yay, I love Meet the Robinsons! Faves are Wilbur, Lewis, and the Bowler Hat Guy. I can’t wait until it comes to dvd in October, I believe.

Oh, I can’t wait for it either Marie. I wonder what features the DVD will have.

Hopefully some cool deleted scenes and maybe music videos.

While I found it very enjoyable and full of wonderful moments, I also found it lacking in a number of areas…

1.None of the Robinsons are fully fleshed out. We are given hints as to who they are but we never really get to know them because there are just too many of them. As the rest of the story unfolds and we find out exactly why “Bowler Hat Guy” is doing what he’s doing, we are left without really getting to know any of the characters except for Lewis.

2.The story seems to be needle-thin and expanded over the complete running time of the film by way of overdone moments of silliness. Had the writers given us a little more depth in a few more of the characters and left out some of the sometimes boring slapstick moments that really didn’t relate to the film, “Meet the Robinsons” would have been a better film.

With that said, there are many highlights that make this film worthy of multiple viewings. For one, the relationship between Lewis and the Robinsons has a number of very sentimental moments. His roommate Goob, ever depressed, also steals a few of the scenes that he is in. The T-Rex used so much in the film’s trailers actually has a very brief role, but is another bright spot for the movie. The voice casting was excellent as well, with one very special voice appearance near the end of the film. There are also hints at Disneyland, Disney World, and a few inside laughs for fans of Disney. Finally, the conclusion to the film has vintage Walt Disney written (literally) all over it. I just wish the film as a whole could have kept up with its high points. Overall, this is a very enjoyable movie that suffers from lulls in action, poor character development, and a lack of solid direction. However, it manages to hold your attention for the most part, hits you in the heart perfectly at times, and screams nostalgia at moments. It’ll probably make its way to my DVD collection.

The future will arrive on DVD tomorrow! :sunglasses:

I’m very disappointed in the Disney Stores for not offering a pre-order w/ lithographs, but do you guys know of any other retail exclusives?

~~=oP

Nope, no retail bonuses at all. I’m dissapointed about the DVD release in general because of the whole “Let’s keep some features only on Blu-Ray to make them convert”. Making my own second disc of the web featurettes and stuffs to make up for it.

I noticed this problem, as well. I do wish that the Robinsons themselves had been more fleshed out and fully understood instead of having them and their lives simply skipped before the audience in a flash of lightning. I understand if the producers simply didnt’ have enough tiime to get into major detail about the Robinson family, but I do wish that we had known more about them in the end.

PV - Dude, they don’t even advertise the DVD in our local Disney Store. Heck, I didn’t even know that the film itself will come out tomorrow until you mentioned it. So far, all the hype seems to be on The Jungle Book and Pixar merchandise.

I’m gonna pick up the Meet the Robinsons DVD when I have some money. Besides Enchanted, it’s the only Disney film I’ll spend my money on this year. Heh.

I will probably not purchase it … okay, maybe sometime in the future. I thought it was an okay movie all around, but… I don’t know , maybe I’m growing up too fast or something. Overall, it was a nice start for John Lasseter , and everyone.

Personality for me, I really enjoyed this movie, i went to see it in theaters about two or three times. Mostly l going to be addicted to this movie like i was addicted to Cars. watch it over and over and over again. I will defintely add it to my disney collection.

You’re never too old to have fun…

I’ll admit that it wasn’t the greatest film in the world either, but it was a nice improvement over Disney’s previous bombs. The main reason I went to see the film was for the last ten minutes, which pretty much made the film. Other than that, it wasn’t terribly magnificent…

I really want the DVD not only for the movie (with the Tom Selleck reference in it) but also because of the short at the beginning of the movie.
