Monsters U Merchandise Discussion

I have an MU pin, but it’s just a normal circle pin, not the tradable kind.

My sister went to Disneyland earlier this month. She asked what stuff I wanted, and I said MONSTERS UNIVERSITY. And while there, she said she was shocked by the lack of MU merchandise. It was released like a month ago for gosh sake!

I just asked where she got my Terri & Terry pin (with George mystery pin) and she said it was at the pin booth near Buzz Lightyear. It was beneath glass though. But yeah, surprisingly not a lot of MU merch around.

I got my PNK pin in a trade off of Instagram, and my MU Oozma Kappa pin off of ebay. Try ebay, you’ll probably find some!

I reeeally want Oozma Kappa plushes! Especially Terry/Terri!

Oh, how I wish those DS plushies and that OK shirt weren’t so expensive right now! Here’s hoping I’ll be able to get my claws on that awesome stuff before it’s gone. Also, has anyone seen the MU Fearbook? It’s literally like Mike’s yearbook and guide to the Institution. I was thumbing through it at Sam’s Club a few weeks ago laughing myself to pieces over the yearbook signatures XD Have to get that one and the art book ASAP!

Get one, you won’t be disapoited.

I really want to get the Fearbook, I’ve seen posts of it on tumblr and instagram and what not.

Fearbook! They are going all out with the monsterization here!

Well, if those itemd are from the Disney Store, I would just keep your eyes on them. DS are notorious for having very expensive exclusive merchandise, and then having crazy sales all the time. So those items will likely be marked down.

Saw the movie (finally!) in the same cinema as I saw Monsters Inc at, like I hoped… and lo and behold, there was MERCHANDISE! Actual merchandise…! In a store near the cinema! Of course, I went ahead and bought myself plush versions of Randy and Sulley. I’d have gotten Mike as well but they didn’t have him ;_;

Should be fun to mention that it was the same store I bought some merch at from the original movie way back.

Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts.

I saw MU at the same theatre where I saw MI as well!

I have a plushie of one of the PNK girls! Her name is Britney.

I recently purchased a poster with Mike and Sulley on it. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/grinandwink.gif” alt=“;-D” title="Grin and

Wink" /> It keeps peeling off though, so I have to get new poster tape.

You know what I’d like to see is some sorority / fraternity style t-shirts like you see on college campuses. I’d love to get an EEK sorority shirt

Aww, that’s cute! I have a couple MU plushies, but I really want to get a Claire Wheeler one as well.

Oh cool! I have a MU poster as well.

I"d buy a MU shirt too! GOtta show some Oozma Kappa pride.

I don’t really care much for hats, but I really want the MU hat.

^I would totally love to have one, too! More reasons to randomly quote little Mike

Last month I bought this MU tee, and I just bought an alumni license plate frame for my new car!

The plate frame came today, and I’m anxious to get home and put it on my car tonight!! Also, I have seen so many kids at the store whose eyes get wide when they see my t-shirt as I walk by… then I can hear them saying to their parents, “Mom look, Monsters University!”

^Nice choice! And yeah, I own a few Pixar shirts, and it brings me so much joy when either a) kids start staring at my shirt or b) adult and teens compliment it. Oh how I hope DisneyStore’ll bring back that MU shirt I really wanted…

I have to admit I’ve been very disappointed with the amount of merchandise, or perhaps I should say the VARIETY of the merchandise, available here in the US for MU. I was anticipating a whole lot of new stuff, especially with some of the other characters besides Mike and Sulley, and was really hoping that there would be a lot more things aimed at adult/teen fans, like adult-sized clothing. If you compare what we got to what they have in Japan, it’s pretty sad. I was especially hoping that there would be much more merchandise with Randall, since Disney surely would have figured out that he is a very popular character and realized how badly they missed the boat when it came to merchandise in his image for the first movie, and movie to rectify that, but they didn’t, not in this country, anyway. I think part of that, especially where marketing stuff for adults is concerned, has to do with the different attitudes in most Western countries vs. attitudes in Japan and Hong Kong(which has seen the largest audience for this movie)for animation. Here, animated=“for little kids”. In Asian cultures, apparently animation is viewed simply as another medium for telling a great story. Maybe we’ll see some more stuff released once the DVD comes out and as the holiday shopping season nears. One can only hope, right?

^I thought they’d done a pretty good job with the merch for MU, at least, as far as DisneyStore and Zazzle.com are concerned. Not a fan of most things that TRU and other places sell. But really, I think they’ve done well, and hey, now that it’s a franchise, who knows how much more will be made in the years to come!

Not to double-post or anything… but you guys must seriously see this insanely awesome figurine. Pricey, but it. is. epic.
