I agree. They need to stop now; I was tired of Madagascar after the first one.
Yep. It looks to become their next Shrek series as far as the movies and spinoffs go.
Pretty much.
Madagascar’s the kind of franchise that’s just been gradually spiraling downhill. Seriously, can’t they let it go?
Brave is definetly #1 on my list. The Pirates! also looks kinda funny, especialy since im a big fan of both Sony Animation and Aardman.
I dont really mind the Madagascar and Ice Age sequels. I still want to see them.
total agreement
Madagascar 4. Oh my God. Just end it. This is why I don’t want a Cars 3 or Toy Story 4. They just can’t stop after they make a sequel.
Exactly!! Enough is enough.
I would like to see all animation studios go 1 YEAR without a sequel.
sadly, they will probably be done, overseas markets love both franchises, they will make a ton of money next year
I’ve never enjoyed any of those films, except, mmm I guess the first ice age, but they have turned to be so predictable and all on them is about stupid jokes, I hate that!
A WALL-E re-release would be one of the greatest news I heard in my life
^I’d fangirl
Yep. It seems like these talking animal comedies do well overseas.
How well did Cars 2 do overseas?
Brave for me. By a mile.
According to Box Office Mojo it’s 8th he highest grossest animated film of the year worldwide, with a total gross of $551,793,981. 34.7% of viewers were Domestic ones, meaning that %65.3 of them were foreign . Never underestimate the foreign box office-what may be a flop stateside could be a massive hit in the UK, Australia, China, India and so on.
I know Dreamwork’s films do well overseas.
^So do Pixar. I think Pixar actually do better over here in the UK. I know in the US Kung Fu Panda performed better than WALL-E, but it was the other way round over here I believe. And Ratatouille is like the 3rd highest grossing animated film in France, I think.
Pixar always does huge in Japan, the UK and now Latin America, they are their key territories, on the other hand Dreamworks is huge in Asia (China, South Korea), some parts in Europe and in Russia, where its movies are always the highest grossing films of the year
there is something wrong there, in the US, WALL-E was much more successful than Kung Fu Panda in 2008, it grossed a little bit more in boxoffice, it also sold more DVDs than KFP, and its bluray was the third best seller of the year, only below the Dark Knight and Ironman (I’m talking about total sales)
Mmm, perhaps your right. I read somewhere that in box office sales KFP did better though.
ETA: Ah, you’re right! Apologies!
Only 2 options! Eek! I voted for Brave, because I’m obviously obsessed with Pixar and I want to see what Pixar will do with elements not commonly seen in their previous films (fairy tale, female-fronted, set in the past, etc.). If the movie’s good, that could open up doors for Pixar to do a lot more different kinds of films, and successfully at that. Maybe decades from now, Pixar will have dozens of films in their canon. Oh my goodness… I just tinkled at the thought.
I also voted for Frankenweenie, which I’m a little stunned to see no one else has done. Tim Burton! A story he did long ago! Black and white! Stop-motion! It’s brilliant—brilliant, I tell you.
If I had more votes, I would have also voted for Laika’s Paranorman, because they’re one of the studios that really excites me, and perhaps Wreck-It Ralph, because it seems like a Pixarish story, and it could be an interesting direction for Disney… But I don’t know enough about the film yet. I’ll probably see several of the other listed movies in theaters should they receive good reviews, but not counting releases of films that have come out before.
