Most Underrrrated Movies...

I knew a friend who actually had a contention with the main character stealing the girlfriend of another man. I mean, seriously? If I remember correctly, the girl was engaged or something, so she still can change her mind (Not to mention her fiancee was a bit of a jerk, I think).

I agree with you!

Here’s a few in my opinion
*Brother Bear
*Secondhand Lions
*Cars
*O Brother Where Art Thou?
*Saludos Amigos/The Three Caballeros
*How the Grinch Stole Christmas
*Song of the South

Your friend probably wouldn’t have liked him much in the original Daniel Wallace book. There, he really did cheat on his wife with the Helena Bonham Carter character (something which is deliberately sidestepped in the film).

Both the book and the film are interesting and worth checking out. I loved the cryptic stucture of the book, which was obviously lost in Burton’s film, but the film added a lot of unique quirky touches of its own, such as Danny DeVito’s werewolf character and the conjoined twin performers.

Another excellent movie! Hub is right up there with Carl in my “Best Old Man” list.

"I’m Hub McCann. I’ve fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I’ve seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I’ve won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand. That’s who I am. NOW, GO HOME, BOY! "

Yeah both Hub and Carl are champions!

What do ya want me to do? Die of old age?"

That movie is hilarious, touching and, as i’ve said underrated!

Oh yes! I agree totally about Secondhand Lions. After watching Up for the first time, Carl immediately reminded me of Garth and Hub!

Gah! I basically want to be Garth when I’m an old man; it is my dream. Shot guns and sun hats!

That sounds amazing, I love cranky old men. You know them, the old guys who say stuff like 'Get of my lawn!!!"

Do you mean like Walt in Gran Torino?!?!?!? Another underrated movie that I love!

I’ve never seen it! But I should.

You absolutely need to see it! “Get off my lawn” is his famous line from the trailers. When you said that, I almost died; it was so perfect. I really thought you were refering to him. Clint Eastwood makes a very nice grumpy old man.

When I think of old man I think of grumpy old people who sit on porches and yell “Get off my lawn”

I just watched the trailer, it looks interesting. And he looks like the coolest old man ever!

How about The Never Ending Story, people? That’s another great favourite of mine. People who revisit for the first time since childhood are often surprised at just how dark and melancholic it is. I admire just how seriously it manages to take itself, and I think it tells a simply beautiful story. Plus, the puppetry is delightful, and holds up a lot better now than an awful lot of contemporary CGI efforts.

Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino is hilarious in a racist kind of way.

Maybe it’s just me, but racist old people make me laugh 8D

Oh, and I just watched this for the first time in years: What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. I LOVE this film. Amazing performances by Johnny Depp, Julliette Lewis, and especially Leonardo DiCaprio. A highly overlooked gem.

^ Although I’ve only seen it once, it is pretty underrated.

I think it might be because I know a lot of people who could be considered “alternative” (this sounds incredibly lame when it’s put into words), but this isn’t underappreciated by anyone I know. With general America, however, it probably is. It’s a great movie, for sure. Steve Buscemi is so adorable in it. Birch gave a swell performance, as well. The screenplay is the best thing about it in my eyes, though.

You’re not the only one!

i reckon Grease is, not int past yeh, but now by generation, it’s like…Grease 2nd High School musical 1st which makes me want to throw up… it’s like comparing Bendtner to Messi, zero comparison.
