Mo cap is cool in live-action movies, for SFX and stuff.
Other than that I dislike it.
Animation is about creating the illusion of life, isn’t it? How can someone
sticking plastic dots all over themselves and jumping around a bit be considered animation?
That is reall hard to choose. I
guess in a way it is animation. But when i look for animation I look for talent and creative people who show me
somethign new, not motion capture images
(shurgs) Still animation… I’m thankful for everyoens effort in
animation.
The Academy let The Polar Express be eligible for a nomination for a Best
Animated Feature Oscar, so I guess motion capture is considered animation. The computer, instead of the human, is
capturing virtual pictures of a series of motion sequences. And While I don’t believe motion capture is as good
as traditional, stop-motion, or 3-D computer animation, I do believe it’s another way to capture something that
really doesn’t exist.
